A lot is happening in the Steam Charts after the Summer Sale. Four new role-playing games are waiting in the bestsellers.
The last two weeks it was quite boring in the Steam Charts, because due to the Steam Summer Sale almost only well-known games were represented in the bestsellers. Now that the big discount campaign is over, something is happening again in the sales charts. Not only is there a new leader, but the other places are also full of newcomers.
Four new role-playing games in the Steam Charts
A new front-runner: Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin takes first place this time. Instead of the typical third-person action of the series, you can expect a tactical role-playing game with turn-based battles.
However, the players are not completely satisfied, the story-heavy RPG offshoot only has 76 percent positive ratings on Steam – but this does not detract from its success. Our Monster Hunter expert Elena also had a lot of fun with MH Stories 2 in the test, but also had reason for criticism:
Behind the top seller come the Formula One game F1 2021 and Valve’s surprisingly announced handheld PC Steam Deck. Since the bestsellers are based on generated sales and not pure numbers, the Switch alternative was denied a higher ranking, as the down payment for pre-orderers only costs four euros.
Role-playing game for adults: In fifth place is a rather unusual title called She Will Punish Them. Here you play a half-naked succubus, collect loot in the form of sexy outfits and powerful weapons, and in the best action RPG style knock down heaps of enemies. However, this is not the first time that an erotic game has reached the top of the Steam charts. The players seem to like it, because 94 percent of the Steam reviews are positive.
You can also buy She Will Punish Them in Germany, even though Steam has blocked adults-only games here since the end of 2020. The reason: She Will Punish Them does not contain any sex scenes, only nudity – and this also exists in numerous other games such as Rust and Conan Exiles.
Two MMORPGs here: Last but not least, there are two online role-playing games at the end of the top 10. The Xianxia MMO Swords of Legends Online was released last week as a Buy2Play title in Europe and the US after being playable in China for six years. The graphics have held up quite well, though, as the release trailer shows:
Those who are more into western MMOs should keep an eye on New World: The game from Amazon Studios also managed to place in the bestsellers, although it is not released until the end of August. This is probably because the closed beta starts on Tuesday and pre-orderers can take part.
