018, Monster Hunter World took the entire franchise in a new direction, which Monster Hunter Rise not only continues to follow, but also thinks ahead in many aspects. As a result, the game is much more beginner-friendly than the older offshoots were.
In this action RPG, as the name suggests, you can hunt monsters alone or with your friends. These are sometimes not only quite huge, but also very stubborn. In order to stand a chance against even the strongest of them, you are constantly crafting new weapons and equipment. You can get the most important parts from defeated enemies.
The gameplay mechanics result in a thrilling and satisfying loot spiral that you can spend many hours with. New to Monster Hunter Rise are the dog-like Palamutes in particular, on which you can travel from A to B as fast as the wind.
Don’t expect too much from the story. Since Monster Hunter Rise focuses more on the gameplay, it plays a subordinate role. The rather average graphics could also be a shortcoming for some players. However, those who don’t let this bother them and like to spend a lot of time in a well-polished action RPG will be well served.
