The Viking survival game Valheim presents its roadmap for 2021. Numerous updates and content will be added in Early Access.
If you’ve been on Steam this week, you’ve probably stumbled across the Early Access release of the Viking game Valheim, which got off to an absolute dream start on February 2.
The survival game reached 19,000 concurrent players and 60,000 viewers on Twitch just one day after its release. Only two days after release, Valheim enjoys 95 percent positive ratings with 1,500 votes.
Meanwhile, the roadmap of the Steam hit has also been published and gives hope for massive new content for 2021.
This is the content Valheim will get in 2021
On Twitter, the developers revealed their plans for four major updates – and also a list of features that may be coming later this year:
- Heart and Home: This will probably be about more options when building your own base.
- Cult of the Wolf: This will probably be new quests and stories.
- Ships and the Sea: Although there are already ships in Early Access, the developers want to add more shipping features.
- Mistlands: With this update, players will get a new biome, possibly a swamp area judging by the name. According to the developers, only five of a total of nine planned biomes are currently in the game – so there will be more to come.
Like our Norse lord once said “We’ve Odin just begun”. Take a look at all we’ve got planned for 2021 as we sail through Early Access and continue building the world of Valheim together. #valheim #vikings #indiegame #survival pic.twitter.com/zKwV09Xqew

- Multiplayer interactions
- Improved combat system
- Tar pits
- More items at merchants
- Svartalfr brigands
- More unique locations
- Sandbox mode
- Moon phases
- Munin
You can get an eptical impression of Valheim in the trailer of the Viking game:
The developers state that Valheim will be in Early Access for at least a year – maybe a little longer depending on player feedback.
Currently you can get Valheim for around 17 Euros on Steam, after its full release this price will probably increase according to the developers. Those who participate in Early Access have access to the official Discord server, where ideas and suggestions for improvement can be shared.
