PC gaming is more popular than ever. This is just shown by two important records that Steam broke over the weekend

Valve’s Steam is off to a flying start in 2023: Just a week after New Year’s, Steam breaks not one, but two major records and shows just how strong the PC really is as a gaming platform.

Double record for Steam

This past weekend, Steam set its previous record for players, breaking the magic barrier of 10 million players currently actively in a game for the first time. On Sunday, Steam recorded (SteamDB10,082,055 active users.

But this was not the only record that was broken: The number of users who are simply online on Steam at the moment was also able to reach a new historic high with 32,186,301 users.

Among-Us competitor sets Steam records

You will surely ask yourself now: What was the reason? On the one hand, the Steam perennials à la CS:GO, Dota 2 and Lost Ark will of course still be played up and down in 2023.

But: With (Goose Goose Duck)  a new Steam phenomenon has gained enormous player numbers in recent days – a kind of Chinese clone of Among Us, where instead of little astronauts, ducks and geese compete for victory.

Just like in the big role model, it’s all about teamwork, laying false trails and social de-duck-tion Over 640,000 players were online there alone at the time the 10 million mark was broken – more than big names like Apex Legends, PUBG: Battlegrounds or GTA 5.

Speaking of Steam: Many new titles await you on Valve’s gaming platform this week as well, some even with the potential to become the first (build-up) hit of the year. So maybe the next little record is already waiting in the wings.
