From rally racers to grandpa’s wheelchair, almost every virtual vehicle is cheaper on Steam right now. Here are our recommendations for the big racing game sale.

All kinds of racing and motor games are on the bargain shelves on Steam for a week from 23 to 30 May. We’ve been cruising through the offers for you and give you our recommendations, where quality and price go head-to-head.

But one thing first: friends of Formula 1 are surprisingly left empty-handed in the sale, at least as far as the official licence series is concerned. For those who love them and haven’t yet heard of the upcoming manager simulation, you can find our preview here:

F1 Manager 2022 could be the most exciting Formula 1 experience in years

Our Highlight: Forza Horizon 4

(Genre: Racing game – Developer: Playground Games – Release: 02. October 2018 – Price: 23 Euro)

Breathtaking English landscapes, 450 unlockable vehicles from over 100 real manufacturers and absolute freedom. Forza Horizon 4 inherits the virtues of its predecessors and expands them with an open world that you share with other drivers and dynamic seasons.

In addition to classic street races, the fourth part also offers numerous stunt jumps, show races or even a capture-the-flag mode. And as a true open world, it naturally didn’t miss the fun of hiding a few secrets.

After more than three years, there are now quite a few DLCs, some of which are heavily reduced in the current sale and available in two different bundles. Fortune Island is particularly noteworthy here, with its treasures hidden behind more extreme tracks and weather conditions.

More exciting recommendations:

  • CarX Drift Racing Online: One of the best drift games on Steam entices with realistic driving physics, extensive tuning and a whimsical multiplayer mode. (Steam ratings: 95%, reduced by 50 percent to 7 euros)

  • Wreckfest: You like it a bit harder? In its Destruction Derbies with elaborate damage model, this title offers you maximum wrecking fun. Rules? There aren’t any. In the tuning garage, you not only pimp the values of the numerous vehicles, but also give them martial designs. (Steam ratings: 86%, reduced by 60 percent to 12 euros)

  • Dirt Rally 2.0: The demanding rally simulation excites with its absolute hardcore demand for realism and has numerous racing classes and a career mode in the bag. Of course, the most adrenaline is released in the optional VR mode. (Steam ratings: 86%, reduced by 70 percent to 6 euros)

  • Descenders: Without motors, but no less action-packed: In the downhill spectacle for cyclists, you earn a good reputation in the community with breakneck descents and unlock new bikes and clothes. Thanks to very precise controls, even the trickiest stunts can be mastered with a little practice. (Steam ratings: 95%, reduced by 60 percent to 9 euros)

  • SpeedRunners: Still too bike-heavy for you? In this candidate Race game is meant a little differently: In the wacky multiplayer race, you sprint as superheroes through a dozen 2D levels. Thanks to collectable weapons, with which you can pepper your opponents out of the picture, a certain Mariokart charm unfolds. (Steam rating: 94%, reduced by 75 percent to 4 euros)

By the way, the sale also includes curiosities like the rocket wheelchair chase (Run! Grandpa! Run!), but it was too crazy for a general recommendation. What is your personal highlight at Racing Fest? Feel free to write it down in the comments!
