Steam Most Wanted: Which upcoming PC games are the most hotly anticipated? We”ve rounded up the top 15 most wanted Steam games for you

The gaming year 2022 is already in full swing – but some big fish are still waiting for us. And the exciting announcements for 2023 are already piling up. But which games are actually the most hotly anticipated?

A good indicator of this is the Steam wish list. Here you can find out which games are currently on most wish lists. There are some clear highlights, but also a few surprises. Maybe there”s something you”d like to add to your list. Have fun browsing!

Place 15: Karlson

(Genre: Action – Release: Unknown – Developer: Dani)

Why hotly anticipated? Karlson promotes itself as a mix of parkour, first-person shooter, slow motion and milk. Although there is no more than a short trailer for the game so far, numerous Steam users have Karlson on their wish list. Why?

Because the game is being developed by YouTuber Dani, who has 2.7 million subscribers. On his channel he publishes videos about game design and sets himself challenges – such as developing a game in three days.

Place 14: Company of Heroes 3

(Genre: Strategy – Release: 4th Quarter 2022 – Developer: Relic Entertainment)

Why hotly anticipated? It”s back to the front lines of World War II. You”ll have to command your troops on the battlefield, make smart decisions in the heat of battle and complete various objectives. Of course, Company of Heroes 3 also offers a multiplayer mode in addition to a single-player campaign!

Place 13: Hogwarts Legacy

(Genre: Role Playing Game – Release: 4th Quarter 2022 – Developer: Avalanche Software)

Why hotly anticipated? Harry Potter fans have had to wait forever for a game like (Hogwarts Legacy). Finally, a huge open-world role-playing game will allow us to immerse ourselves in the world of Hogwarts as our own character – albeit many years before the events of the books in the 19th

Place 12: Dwarf Fortress

(Genre: City-building simulation – Release: Unknown – Developer: Bay 12 Games)

Why hotly anticipated? The legendary 2003 ASCII game Dwarf Fortress lets you simulate a complex dwarven fortress and manage its inhabitants, economy and environment. The Steam remake will rely on real pixel graphics and offer an optional classic mode as well as innovations such as the adventure mode, in which you explore the world as a role-playing hero

Place 11: Ark 2

(Genre: Survival MMO – Release: 2023 – Developer: Studio WIldcard)

Why hotly anticipated? Ark is one of the biggest and most important MMOs in the survival genre. So it”s no wonder that the planned sequel starring Vin Diesel is on the wish list of many survival fans. Ark 2 is said to take place after the events of the DLC Genesis: Part 2 and is set on an Earth-like planet. What else we know about Ark 2, (you can read here).

Place 10: Kerbal Space Program 2

(Genre: Space Simulation – Release: 2023 – Developer: Intercept Games)

Why hotly anticipated? Kerbal Space Program is a small cult game for fans of space simulations and cartoon humour. The joy was correspondingly great when a successor, Kerbal Space Program 2, was announced.

It is currently struggling with delays and will probably not see the light of day until 2023. But that doesn”t diminish the anticipation too much, as the numerous wish list entries prove.

Place 9: Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

(Genre: Multiplayer Shooter – Release: Sep 13, 2022 – Developer: Fatshark)

Why hotly anticipated? A new co-op shooter in the Warhammer universe, so the strong interest is not surprising. Basically, Darktide is reminiscent of Left 4 Dead, except that it takes place in the dark future. You fight hordes of enemies and explore the exciting setting while mastering the different classes.

Place 8: Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

(Genre: Role Playing Game – Release: Unknown – Developer: Paradox Interactive)

Why hotly anticipated? The role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is a true classic in role-playing game history. The cult game had to struggle with numerous bugs and never achieved the desired financial success – because it shared its release day with, of all things, Half-Life 2. But today it is considered a must for role-playing game fans because of its grandiose vampire story and freedom of choice.

The second part, which was surprisingly announced at the time, seems to have suffered some of the curse of its predecessor, because Bloodlines 2 also looks back on a chaotic development and recently lost its entire development team.

Place 7: Frostpunk 2

(Genre: Strategy – Release: 2022 – Developer: 11 Bit Studios) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPGjn_76Wuk

Why hotly anticipated? Survival with a difference – that was the motto of the first Frostpunk. Here, you don”t run through an open game world in a third- or first-person perspective, but fight for the survival of your people in the form of a relentless strategy game. What plans the developers have for the ambitious sequel, (you can find out here!)

Place 6: Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl

(Genre: Shooter – Release: Dec 8, 2022 – Developer: GSC Game World)

Why hotly anticipated? At the time, the cult shooter Stalker stood for one thing above all: terrific graphics. In 2021 years later, of course, we understand this to mean something different – and yet the sequel Stalker 2 seems to effortlessly fulfil the visual expectations.

Place 5: Starfield

(Genre: Role Playing Game – Release: 2023 – Developer: Bethesda)

Why hotly anticipated? That Bethesda”s first major single-player role-playing game in seven years is gathering something of a following should come as no surprise. And after the big Xbox-Bethesda Showcase 2022, in which 15 minutes of gameplay of Starfield could be seen for the first time, the interest has increased drastically once again.

Place 4: Party Animals

(Genre: Beat ”em up – Release: 2022 – Developer: Recreate Games)

Why hotly anticipated? A physics-based action title with online and local multiplayer? You can probably guess why this game made it almost to the top of the Steam wish list. Here, cute little dogs, kittens or bunnies give each other a good beating. If that”s not enough, you can take up a weapon or use the environment for mischief.

Place 3: Hollow Knight: Silksong

(Genre: Metroidvania – Release: 2023 – Developer: Team Cherry)

Why hotly anticipated? The first Hollow Knight was a real surprise hit and is now considered one of THE cult games of the genre. The heavy Metroidvania with the chic hand-drawn style sold over a million copies after just a few months and left fans wanting more.

And now people are impatiently waiting for the sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. An exact release date is still a long time coming, but there are already some details about the new part.

Place 2: The Day Before

(Genre: Survival Shooter – Release: Mar 1, 2023 – Developer: Fntastic)

Why hotly anticipated? Since its announcement, The Day Before has gathered a huge crowd of curious people who finally want to lay hands on the mix of open-world MMO and survival shooter. Although the game climbed to the top of the Steam wish list for months, there is still no sign of a playable version.

No wonder, then, that The Day Before is also increasingly viewed with sceptical eyes. Only recently, the title was postponed again due to a change to the Unreal Engine 5 – by a whole year.

Place 1: Stray

(Genre: Adventure – Release: 19 July 2022 – Developer: BlueTwelve Studio)

Why hotly anticipated? Stray lets you slip into the role of one of the most extraordinary protagonists of all time – namely that of an ordinary street cat. She, in turn, wanders through a cyberpunk world abandoned by humans and uncovers the secret of the robot colony with her little drone.

We have already seen the first gameplay and think: This game is rightly on thousands of wish lists – because you should at least keep an eye on this:
