Strategy hopeful from Blizzard legends smashes through target on Kickstarter after just minutes

Stormgate is apparently inspiring fans of real-time strategy. So much so, in fact, that the Kickstarter target drops in the blink of an eye

That was quick. Just a few moments after the Kickstarter campaign of Stormgate was launched, the target is pulverized and in the meantime the veterans of the genre (have already raised more than 1,250,000 euros ).

We explain what this enormous success is all about.

What is Stormgate?

Stormgate is a new, Free2Play real-time strategy game from the team at Frost Giant Studios, featuring former developers from Warcraft 3 and StarCraft 2 . The specially created setting merges fantasy and science fiction: Demons meet mechs.

Other than that, Stormgate will be what connoisseurs of the genre expect: a real-time strategy game with a campaign, editor and multiplayer as well as the option of co-op.

Factions: Two factions, Infernal Host and Human Vanguard, will be available at the Early Access launch next February. But the developers are already teasing a third, which will probably be added in the first year – and perhaps even more will follow:

Snowplay: The core of Stormgate’s marketing is its technology. Not only should the title be able to display more than a thousand units at the same time thanks to Unreal Engine 5, but Snowplay is also at work in the substructure.

This is a self-developed software that is intended to provide an unprecedented gaming experience. The developers advertise that the units 3x more responsive than in Starcraft 2.

When will Stormgate be released?  Stormgate will enter Early Access in February 2024, according to its Kickstarter page. From this point on, Year Zero will begin. During this period, for example, the various stretch goals from the Kickstarter campaign will be implemented. These include, for example, a 3v3 mode

If you want to follow the title, you can find (the Steam page here).

What do you think about Stormgate? Does this very classic real-time strategy experience appeal to you? Will you be checking it out as soon as it goes into Early Access or would you rather wait until it’s actually finished? Are you perhaps even one of the backers on Kickstarter? Or maybe you don’t like the setting? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
