The newly released fighting game fights its way into Steam trends, easily beating other genre representatives.

Street Fighter 6 can be happy about an all-round successful release. After the fighting game was showered with good to outstanding reviews internationally gamers also show their great interest and enthusiasm on Steam. In the process, Street Fighter leaves the genre competition far behind.

Already a big Steam success

On Saturday, June 3, one day after release, Street Fighter 6 reached its highest number of concurrent active players yet: Over 70,000 fans explored (according to SteamDB) the open world or took on new fighting challenges. As one analyst notes on Twitter, these are significantly larger numbers than other games in the fighter genre:

So Street Fighter 6 not only surpasses its own predecessor many times over, even games like Mortal Kombat 11 and Tekken 7 cannot compete with the brand new title. Only the platform fighter Multiversus, which has been cancelled in the meantime, was able to attract up to (153,000 players at the same time) with its Free2Play model and thus trump Street Fighter 6.

Our review of Street Fighter also finds many words of praise for the title. Although the advertised World Tour is not quite as fun as hoped, the developers learn from the innovations of the competition, which probably contributes to the success of the game.

In addition, the fighting game proves to be far more beginner-friendly than some other genre representatives. Nevertheless, Street Fighter remains something for multiplayer fans who want to prove themselves in duels with other players.

What do you think of the new Street Fighter? Do you like the open-world mode and other innovations? Or are you just here for the fighting and don’t care about the innovations? Have you not tried the game yet and are waiting for the right opportunity? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
