Just in time for gamescom 2023, the developers have revealed brand new single-player content that also has something to offer old series fans.

Remember the snake Beauregard? No, that’s not the one from The Jungle Book! Anyway. If you can match the name correctly, you’re in the right place in this article, because then you’re obviously one of the fans of the old Stronghold parts.

Stronghold: Definitive Edition has a lot of nostalgia in store for you. As the Firefly development team announced in the course of gamescom 2023 (all info on our trade fair programme), there will be a brand new campaign that brings back old series villains.

A dewy trailer to coincide with this announcement is also available, feel free to watch it first:

14 new missions with old virtues

Don’t worry: The old military and economic campaigns will not be taken away from you. So you can still relive the original Stronghold feel, including all the old missions

Under the title The Jewel Campaign the Definitive Edition also delivers 14 new missionsn. In it, we go to the English countryside to rescue the kidnapped relatives of Sir Longarm. The events take place parallel to the military campaign. The missions are deliberately aimed at veterans who are looking for a challenge.

Also old enemies return. As we already revealed at the beginning, the snake Beauregard, among others, makes an appearance. But also the universally popular Rat de Puce makes a reappearance. Once again, it is up to the two greasy contemporaries to dent their armour.

If you want to find out even more about the latest announcements about Stronghold: Definitive Edition, you can still watch (a newly released Q&A video) the developers on YouTube – or you can read our exciting articles. Oh, why not both!

Do you like the prospect of 14 new campaign missions in Stronghold: Definitive Edition? Besides the rat and the snake, are you hoping for the return of other arch-rivals from your time as a castle lord or lady? Are you looking forward to the remake in general or are you rather sceptical in view of the only rudimentarily improved visuals? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
