Team Fortress 2 fans are so frustrated they’re taking 340,000 signatures to Valve HQ

Even though Valve has temporarily fixed the bot problem in Team Fortress 2, fans are still fighting for the future of the team shooter

Team Fortress 2is already 17 years old and is still a permanent fixture in the Steam charts of the most-played titles. But the community fears for the future of the team shooter, even though Valve has already addressed the long-standing bot problem

To express their concerns, some fans have now bound all340,000 signatures of a petition to save the game as a bookand taken it to Valve’s headquarters in Washington.

A milestone and a request

Just a few months ago, Team Fortress 2 was a dark place on the internet. Hardly a match could be played without being confronted with annoying bots. These used game-destroying hacks and often had racist usernames. The problem got so out of hand that the game’s Steam ratingsfor the first time ended up atmostly negative

At some point, the community had had enough and started the petitionSave TF2 With success, as thousands of accounts were banned with the summer update 2024 and since then it has been possible to play several matches in a row again without being confronted with bots and hacks

Howeverthis is not the first timethis problem has been addressed, which is why fans want Valve to stay on the ball this time and not allow it to escalate again. On the one hand, to give strength to this wish and, on the other, to celebrate the milestone of their petition, the initiators of the petition decided on an unusual action:

They printedall 340,000 names of the signatories in a bound bookand placed it somewhere in the entrance area of Valve’s headquarters. It is not yet known whether the work has actually found its way to the developers. But it is certainly a great idea. The community is divided

It remains to be seen whether the campaign will have any impact. In the comments on the post, many people seem to be optimistic. One user writes:The book] will most likely be appreciated by the people at Valve.

Other users, however, are less positive.One even assumes that the pages of the book could end up astoilet paper. But for one user, even that could be a victory. He writes:I hope my name touches Gabe’s butt.

Valve is known for successful and high-quality multiplayer games. You’ll not only find Team Fortress 2 in the Steam charts, but also CS:GO 2, Dota 2 and the new and mysterious Deadlock. The company behind the Steam platform achieved legendary status at the latest after the release of Half-Life 2, which we even voted the best shooter of all time last year.
