The Viking adventure actually dispenses with too many role-playing elements. However, an elaborately created map now makes up for this
In Valheim players write their own story and explore the map freely in search of new resources, biomes and bosses. There is no overarching main mission or grand narrative. Fans are now changing that
The two Youtubers Ninebyte and Dhakhar joined forces for a particularly ambitious mod project and have created a complete role-playing game in Valheim.
A game within a game
After a year of planning and over 1,000 hours of work, the two content creators’ role-playing game is now playable. In the following video, Dhakhar takes us through the creation process and explains the content
Features of the role-playing map:
- There are 35 handcrafted locations, of which five are large cities
- In the cities you will find NPCs with quests and the possibility to trade.
- The quests are tracked via the compendium.
- The cities are not only connected by roads and bridges, but also by a coherent story.
- There are twelve classes, including mage, berserker, shaman or thief.
- The bossfights are modified variants from the normal game.
- Food, armor and weapons can all be found in the world or you can get them as a quest reward Theoretically, you don’t have to craft anything yourself – but it is possible.
- There are unique dungeons, traps and much more to discover in the game world.
At Valheim itself, the next major content update is already in the starting blocks:
How to play the map?
There are two versions of the map. The first is an MMO version for up to 100 players, but it requires its own server and some mods and is not accessible to everyone.
The second version can be downloaded free of charge via the Discord channels of Ninebyte and Dhakhar . Installation instructions can also be found there
This version can be played with up to ten players and does not require any mods This means that Xbox players can also join a game on this map.
The fact that the two have managed to implement a role-playing system with quests in Valheim without mods is an achievement in itself and, according to the video linked in the article, also took a lot of work.
