Even though many people know the Polish development studio 11bit mainly for the building sensation Frostpunk, another game actually made the team famous. We are talking about This War of Mine, a bitter survival game in which we are shown the suffering of civilians in war zones. Although the game only cost around 500,000 euros to produce, it has so far grossed over 3 million euros. A tremendous success of which 11bit can be very proud.
As mentioned, the next success came with Frostpunk, but the team has not forgotten its roots. With The Old Republic, 11bit is once again dedicating itself to a new survival game, and it has much more in common with the studio’s first success than one might initially think. Once again, you have to fight for survival in a desperate situation, time is running out, and you have to keep several people happy at once.
Only in this case, the other people are you – because the hero of the story has to clone himself in order to operate the huge mobile space station with which he is stranded on a dying planet. Whereby clone is the wrong term for it. They are the eponymous Alters, alternative versions of the hero, with very different abilities and even views. We were able to play the title ourselves some time ago and were incredibly fascinated by it.
There is no release date for The Alters yet, except for 2025.
