The cyberpunk role-playing game currently only offers DLSS on Steam, but not in Game Pass. At least ray tracing was delivered via patch.
The Ascent looks really, really good: There are neon lights reflecting in the puddles, there are electric charges crackling over huge machines. Not least thanks to ray tracing in combination with DLSS for more FPS, the graphics play in the upper league – but unfortunately not all players get to see this.
At the time of release, both technologies were only available in the Steam version, so anyone who bought the game on Xbox Game Pass for PC had to do without. Ray tracing is now available for everyone with an update.
Our review of The Ascent: In our playtest (with the Steam version), severe technical problems were found in the action role-playing game. We have therefore decided on a two-part rating that takes into account the differences between the Steam and Game Pass versions
DLSS is to be delivered later
This is the current situation: If you own the Steam version of The Ascent, then you should have no problems activating DLSS and Raytracing. Raytracing is also available in Game Pass since the latest patch, and the update is also supposed to improve performance on all platforms and fix many annoying co-op bugs. However, the still missing DLSS is not mentioned with a word. You can find the complete patch notes on Steam.
This is what the developers say: On Twitter, the studio Neon Giant has responded to corresponding requests from players and indirectly confirmed that certain graphics options are missing from Game Pass. They write:
“We are working with our partners to address this as soon as possible! The two versions are not only different in that they are offered in a different store, but they are also built differently. ”
@NeonGiantGames DLSS issue on GamePass needs to be clarified. Why STEAM and GAMEPASS have different build? No DLSS available on PC GamePass version. Why?

There is, however, no concrete info if and when DLSS will also be available for the Windows Store. We have sent a corresponding request to the developers ourselves, if we learn more details, we will of course add them accordingly. The whole thing is particularly annoying because The Ascent is actually the perfect game for the Game Pass.
There are a few other fronts on which the small development team has to fight. Many players complain, for example, about the hacky keyboard controls, mission bugs, bugs with achievements, lags and balancing problems.
Nevertheless, the game currently has “mostly positive” reviews on Steam. The international press ratings, meanwhile, are extremely divergent.
