Valve is increasing production tremendously, according to officials. This means you could be holding your handheld PC in your hands sooner than you thought.
The Steam Deck has been quiet lately. This is probably mainly due to the fact that many pre-orderers have not yet received the handheld PC from Valve. At the moment, Valve can only produce in small capacities and is working through the orders one by one. Since yesterday, however, the company has doubled production.
This is according to a tweet from the official Twitter account of Steam Deck. It says that Valve is doubling the amount of Steam Decks shipped per week as of today. If you don’t have a pre-order email in your mailbox at the moment, you’ll have to wait at least until Thursday. Then the first emails for the third quarter will go out. You can see the full tweet here:
Hello! Some great news on the production front. We just sent the last batch of Q2 emails, and we’ll start sending Q3 reservation emails on the 30th.
Production has picked up, and after today we’ll be shipping more than double the number of Steam Decks every week! pic.twitter.com/kAHE0zRrV7– Steam Deck (@OnDeck) June 27, 2022
That’s what e-mails are all about
If you pre-ordered a Steam Deck, Valve will send you an email when a handheld is produced and ready for you. According to the (official website) those who pre-ordered first will also be the first to get an offer. If you have received such an email, you have 72 hours to actually order the Steam Deck. However, if you let this time window pass, you will no longer be entitled to it.
If you are still expecting your console in the second quarter of this year, you should have already received this email. If not, it may still be on its way, according to Valve. You can also log in to the page linked above to see the current status of your order.
Q3 orders could go out faster
If you’re expecting your Steam deck in the third quarter of 2022, you could soon be receiving a pre-order email. As mentioned earlier, the first of these are going out this week. It may well be that Valve’s doubled production capacity will allow them to process orders faster than previously thought. So you may be able to order early in the third quarter.
If you haven’t ordered a Steam Deck yet, you’ll officially have to wait until at least October 2022 or longer. But that could also change due to the increased production. It depends on how many new orders come in and whether Valve has already taken the increased production into account in the estimates or not.
If you have already received a Steam Deck and are bothered by the loud fan sound, Linus Tech Tips has found a solution to the problem. However, you should not necessarily copy this. We’ll explain why in the following video:
Is your Steam Deck already on its way or do you expect it in the third quarter? Would you like to pre-order a Steam Deck now? Feel free to let us know.
