Horror fans and PlayStation VR2 owners can look forward to a new horror experience today. The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR will be released later today. However, the reviews published so far give a mixed picture of the game.
A train journey becomes a rollercoaster ride of death, yay! Welcome to The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, the gruesome recap of everything that happened in the first season of the Dark Pictures Anthology.
On a gloomy October evening, you board the train to visit your sister. But suddenly there is an accident and you find yourself in a kind of creepy train, where you meet the demon Belial. She takes you on this rollercoaster ride from one nightmare to the next. Her goal is to make you so desperate that you give up your life and go to hell with her. Will she succeed?
At its heart, The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is a rail shooter that lets you fight various enemies from the Dark Pictures Anthology while reliving old familiar locations.
With features like the PS VR2 system’s eye tracking feature, you should be able to enjoy an unprecedented horror experience.
First reviews of Switchback VR
On Metacritic there are already first reviews for The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR. However, they are quite mixed. Although the horror experience is praised on the whole, the advertised features are not fully exploited. At the same time, there seem to be some technical problems that further limit the fun of the game.
At the same time, the title is criticised for not living up to its Dark Pictures name. The choices don’t seem to have any impact and the curator doesn’t achieve the same effect as in the previous parts.
The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is released today for just under 40 euros exclusively on the PS VR2 system.
