Release: When will The Day Before be released?
The Day Before is scheduled for release on 10 November 2023. The MMO has already had two postponements, one due to the change to Unreal Engine 5.
But it is questionable if and when The Day Before will actually be released. Actually, the release is coming soon, but the game cannot be pre-ordered at the moment. And we haven’t heard anything about the beta version that was announced either.

Why scepticism is warranted: The Day Before got a lot of attention with its first trailers – because the graphics seemed too good to be true.
Story: What is The Day Before about?
The Day Before relies on the good old zombie post-apocalypse. The USA has been hit by a pandemic that has turned numerous people into zombies ready for violence and we are right in the middle of it.
As a survivor, we travel the open world and have only one goal at first: not to be eaten or shot by other survivors. To do this, we go in search of safe colonies to catch our breath and ally with others. However, according to the game’s description, we are also supposed to help in the restoration of society
Gameplay: How does The Day Before play?
How exactly The Day Before will play is still not entirely clear. There have already been longer gameplay trailers, but they raised more questions than answers. What we do know:
- Survival: First of all, we fight against the zombie hordes, which according to the developers should function as “realistically” as possible. So don’t be inhumanly fast or spray fountains of poison. We need warm clothing, food, crafting materials and ammunition – in addition, serious injuries could be our undoing.
- PVP: But besides the zombies, the humans are also fighting each other, because resources are scarce. So the MMO should offer a strong PVP focus.
- Weather System: Dynamic weather is also supposed to play a major role. Our clothing must protect us from approaching cold and storms and thunderstorms can make survival hell.
- Open World: The open world is supposed to be more varied than, for example, the very similar The Division. We explore forests, mountains, settlements and rural areas next to the abandoned city. Various vehicles will also be available to us for this purpose.

The system requirements for The Day Before are quite moderate. In any case, these were communicated in July 2022, but it is unclear whether anything will change before the release date.
