The end of Far Cry 6 explained – spoiler warning!
Still here? All right. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! As follows, we give you all the info on what happens after the credits of Far Cry 6 and what it’s all about.
What happens after the credits
In the post-credits scene of Far Cry 6, there is a conversation between Juan Cortez and a mysterious figure, who is only identified as a smuggler via subtitles. In case you were wondering: The scene actually comes without a picture and you will only see a black screen.
The conversation now reveals that the death of dictator Anton Castillo and the victory of Libertad over the FND has tripled the production of Viviro. And Juan is now selling the precious commodity to a black marketeer whose voice might sound suspiciously familiar to fans of Far Cry 3.
You’ve probably guessed: yes, the smuggler is voiced by none other than Michael Mando – the actor who lent his voice and appearance to Vaas Montenegro And now the Far Cry 3 villain seems to be alive and kicking despite his demise in the same game.
You can watch or listen to the scene described in the YouTube video of the channel PowerPyx:
Is that really Vaas?
There is no doubt that the smuggler is Vaas. After all, actor Michael Mando (Better Call Saul, Spider-Man: Homecoming) himself already held out the prospect of returning in some form in the role.
However, one could have assumed that this would have been settled with the VR version of Far Cry 3 and the planned DLCs for Far Cry 6. After all, in the three expansions Insanity, Control and Collapse, the villains Pagan Min (Far Cry 4) and Joseph Seed (Far Cry 5) return alongside Vaas.
Moreover, Vaas is an absolute favourite among the fans. This even went so far that many suspected a young Vaas behind Anton Castillo’s son Diego. This theory was shattered due to a series of inconsistencies, but also due to an official prequel comic to Far Cry 6.
What Vaas’ return could mean.
With the post-credits scene, it is obviously certain: Vaas has survived the events of Far Cry 3 and his confrontation with Jason Brody. Many fans already suspected or hoped this, as Vaas was the only antagonist in the game who died in a dream sequence and whose body was never seen.
In addition, it has already been established that Far Cry 3 definitely takes place before the events of Far Cry 6: for example, by means of various dates in both games, which you can check yourself in the Far Cry Wiki, or in the aforementioned prequel comic to Part 6, in which Anton Castillo tells his son Diego about Vaas and the events that seemed to seal his fate.
To be fair, it should be mentioned at this point that the timeline of Far Cry sometimes gets in its own way. For example, a nuclear war breaks out in the finale of Far Cry 5, which makes way for the post-apocalyptic setting of New Dawn.
Now, of course, the question is what exactly Ubisoft is bringing Vaas back for. After all, the post-credits scene suggests that big things are still planned for the fan favourite. Vaas could play a role in potentially as yet unannounced DLCs for Far Cry 6 and cross paths with Dani Rojas – perhaps as an ally, but perhaps also as a new antagonist.
It would be just as possible for Ubisoft to ante up Vaas Montenegro for a big role in Far Cry 7 or to dedicate his own spin-off to him in the style of Blood Dragon, Primal and New Dawn. Fans can all remain curious as to when and in what form we will see Vaas again after the post-credits scene of Far Cry 6.
