The Finals, the new shooter from former DICE developers from Sweden, will soon be playable for free. We summarise everything about the Closed Beta

With unprecedented level destruction the free2play shooter The Finals 2023 wants to shake up the competition. Although there is still no fixed release date, the developers at Embark have now announced a beta in which players all over the world will be unleashed on the destructible arenas for the first time. We summarise all the information!

How do I get a beta key?

You can register for the beta of The Finals via Steam. Simply follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your Steam account
  2. (The Finals shop page) go to
  3. click “Request access”

Now you just have to check your email inbox to see if you receive an invitation. Keys are not issued at the same time, but at intervals, so check your inbox regularly.

Registering for the playtest is no guarantee that you will be selected. So a bit of luck is a must!

How does The Finals play?

In the game show á la American Gladiators or Squid Game, the players compete in an arena for high prize money and the favour of sponsors. The new trailer gets you in the mood for the beta and shows in just under two minutes what you can expect in The Finals:

Where will the beta take place?

The Finals playtest is available exclusively for PC via Steam. PlayStation and Xbox players cannot participate this time and will have to wait for a later date. The Finals is also scheduled for release on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.

When does the beta run and end?

The Finals playtest will be active for a total of two weeks. The exact dates are:

  • Start: 7 March 2023, time to be announced.
  • End: 21 March 2023, time to be announced

What is included in the beta?

In the playtest you can demolish the two maps Seoul and Monaco at will. You can also try out the three classes (Light, Medium, Heavy) and their respective weapons and gadgets.

You can choose between classics like shotguns or rocket launchers and more experimental equipment like grappling hooks, jump pads or a cannon that shoots building foam.

The destructible environment is not only “eye candy”, but also needs to be used tactically in order to get the better of rival squads.
