The free Steam hit The Finals aims to build on old successes with Season 2 and brings some cool new features

The Finals starts its second season on March 14, 2024 and you can expect a host of new features: With the update, you will not only get new content such as weapons, gadgets and a map, the world will also be expanded to include a mysterious hacker collective called CNS, which will add the first story elements to the multiplayer shooter.

All new features in The Finals: Season 2

New Map: The second season brings with it a variety of updates, including the introduction of a new map called SYS$HORIZON, described as a glitch-filled, neon-lit cityscape. This map offers a mix of vertical and horizontal gameplay and reflects the introduction of the hacker collective CNS, which has infiltrated the game world.

Hacker playstyle: Matching the map, you can also become a CNS hacker yourself in Season 2. The playstyle allows you to manipulate the arena in your favor with a variety of gadgets

In the new trailer for Season 2 you can see all the new features in action:

You get the following four new tools in total:

  • For Lights: Gateway: The light class gets portable portals with limited range. Activating them creates a passage between two points, ideal for quick maneuvers or escapes. These portals are invisible to the enemy and cannot be shot at.
  • For Mediums: Dematerializer & Data Reshaper: The medium class is equipped with two new gadgets. The Dematerializer makes it possible to make physical obstacles such as walls or ceilings disappear temporarily and thus create new paths. The Data Reshaper, on the other hand, transforms objects in the game world, e.g. enemy turrets, into harmless objects.
  • For Heavies: Anti-Gravity Cube: Heavies receive a cube that affects gravity and makes both players and objects around them weightless. This gadget can be used in a variety of ways, either to overcome obstacles or as a defensive measure.

More weapons for all classes: With the start of Season 2, all classes will also gain access to more weapons, with the Lights receiving the 93R Shotgun, the Mediums the new FAMAS Assault Rifle and the Heavys the new KS-23 Shotgun

New game mode: In addition, a new mode called Power Shift will be launched. Here, two teams of five players each fight to escort a platform through the arena. If it is interrupted by an opposing team, the platform comes to a standstill – or it changes direction completely

But be careful: The platform pulls everything in its path and can be thrown off balance by physical forces. Players can swap participants between respawns, allowing them to balance their teams on the fly and perfect their skills
