A year ago today, the Game Awards 2024 took place. Geoff Keighley shared how successful this year’s awards ceremony was on social media over the past few days.

The Game Awards 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of the awards show. This year, too, it was a spectacular event, featuring a mix of honors, performances, and exciting surprises. We ourselves have already written you some reports about it.

Geoff Keighley showed how well the show was received within the gaming community by presenting some figures and a graphic. The graphic shows that over the last few years, the number of live viewers has increased dramatically. While at the premiere in 2014, “only” 1.9 million people tuned in live, a whopping 154 million people watched the 2024 Game Awards. Not only is that a new record for the awards show, it’s also a huge increase from last year, when “only” 118 million people tuned in.

But the 2024 Game Awards are not only convincing on a quantitative level. This year’s awards ceremony can also win on a qualitative level. The grade A in an audience survey shows that a large part of the community was enthusiastic about this year’s program.

Even more numbers about the Game Awards

Compared to last year, that’s an increase of 10%. There was an equally large increase in content on Twitter, where over 1.59 million posts were made, resulting in 6.78 billion impressions.

Last but not least, over 112 million people voted for their favorite game on the official Game Awards website in 2024. Geoff Keighley thanked the gaming industry, the community, and the employees for this year’s show. He said he doesn’t know how to top next year’s awards show yet, but 2025 has a lot more in store.
