Many people will know actor Christopher Judge as Teal’c from Stargate SG-1 or as Kratos in the last two God of War games. After giving an overlong speech at last year’s Game Awards, his speech this year was much shorter. But it caused quite a stir.
What’s it all about? Christopher Judge gave an almost 8-minute speech at last year’s Game Awards when he received the award for Best Performance. This year he was asked to introduce the nominees and the winner himself. However, this was not entirely without comment on his performance last year. After making a joke about his flow of words, Judge did, however, fire some sharp ammunition at Call of Duty and allowed himself the following line
“Fun fact: My speech was actually longer than this year’s Call of Duty campaign. […] Another company I won’t be working for. “
The room erupted in laughter at this side-swipe. Fans on social media also celebrated their God of War for its appearance at the Game Awards and expressed their enthusiasm.
Nevertheless, the joke got stuck in some people’s throats
Judge doesn’t make everyone laugh
For example, Barry Sloane (voice actor for Captain Price in Modern Warfare III) spoke up and criticized his fellow actor. “This Christopher Judge guy writes all his own material, I’ve heard. Talented.👀🤡” Instead of approval, however, Sloane was criticized.
Many Call of Duty fans themselves agree that the Modern Warfare III campaign was extremely short. Even if the voice actors had done a good job, Judge had spoken the truth with his joke. One fan even commented that Sloane should direct his anger at the in-house team rather than Judge himself
Meanwhile, we wonder what Christopher Judge will pull at the next Game Awards
