Not good news for survival fans: Sons of the Forest, the sequel to the Steam hit The Forest, cannot meet its release date.
Another postponement hits the 2022 release calendar, this time pushing back the release of Sons of the Forest. The sequel to the survival hit The Forest was originally scheduled for release in May 2022. However, this date was apparently planned too ambitiously by Endnight Games.
As the developers announced via Twitter, Sons of the Forest will now be released in October 2022. This delays the release by five months. The extra time gained in this way should give Endnight Games the necessary leeway to do justice to its own vision of the game.
In recent weeks, it has become clear to us that the May 2022 release date for Sons of the Forest was too ambitious. In order to be able to realise our vision of the next step in survival gaming, we have decided to move the release date to October 2022.
Hey Everyone,
Over these past few weeks, we have realised that our May 2022 release date for Sons Of The Forest was overly ambitious. To be able to deliver our vision of the next step in survival games, we’ve decided to move our release date to October 2022.

Great Ambitions
There’s an interesting detail in the statement: according to Endnight Games, Sons of the Forest is supposed to take the survival genre to the next step. This makes it clear that they have not only set out to outdo the already very good predecessor. They also want to take the genre as a whole forward.
Sons of the Forest: The most anticipated survival game a release
Although a postponement is rarely a reason to cheer, the developers’ reasoning at least carries the interest of future players, namely to get a mature and technically flawless game. Let’s hope that this is exactly what happens in October 2022.
In the meantime, you can watch the trailer for Sons of the Forest to experience the creepy ambience of the survival game:
