The CD Projekt Red ennobled modder goes one better, showing off new images of the upcoming update to his texture mod for The Witcher 3.

Sometimes the improvement from the good is still not good enough. That’s because modder HalkHogan apparently still sees plenty of potential when it comes to the graphic splendor of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

He is working on a new version of his The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, which this time takes on the officially improved NextGen edition.

The modder has compiled various comparison scenes of the new version in a new video:

In fact, the textures of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt were never really subject to criticism, even in the original version. And at the latest with the NextGen edition from the end of last year, they don t even have to hide from current titles. However, HalkHogan and other hobby developers had already been screwing with the Polish masterpiece for years.

Modders mod their own mod

The modder lends a hand to his own work, as the textures that adorn the models of the new version of The Witcher 3 also come from him. They were declared official and integrated by CD Projekt Red with his permission  This is, to be exact, version 12.0, christened Ultimate

The upcoming update will be called NextGen and is scheduled to be released sometime in the second half of 2023

By the way, the new mod version will also be compatible with the original version of The Witcher 3. So you can also use 1.31/1.32 as a basis

Comparison example in detail: In this scene, apart from the far more vivid wall, the new rope tangle and the less artificial-looking cage are noticeable. Especially the latter reacts more credibly to the sunlight falling into the picture from the left.

The upcoming version (should be according to HalkHogan) but the final polish, which should guarantee the game s existence as a beautiful jewel for a long time.

What do you say? Is this further update even necessary? Or do you feel this question is heretical, as better always goes, and is always good applies? Do you like the new textures at all, or do you think the already polished graphics wallpapers of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt fit better than the even more photorealistic version?
