Phasmophobia is here to stay: This year we can look forward to major updates, a new map and seasonal events.

Since 2020, Phasmophobia has been teaching us the meaning of fear. As a special force of a ghost identification company, we have always ventured into haunted houses and suburban estates, and there is no end in sight yet.

The Haunting remains a hit on Steam and continues to be updated. Kinetic Games has released a roadmap for 2025 and announced a few major updates.

The 2025 roadmap includes a new journal and character updates

Indie studio shares what’s coming to Phasmophobia this year on its website :

At the top of the list is the Chronicle Update This update will overhaul the way we collect evidence while hunting ghosts. In addition to photos and videos, this will include data recorded with a new piece of equipment, the sound recorder

Chronicle should also have a few more extras at the ready, but Kinetic isn’t revealing any details yet.

The second major new feature is a revision of the game characters These have been virtually untouched since 2020 and have somehow become the game’s flagship feature. With their unnatural animations, they have provided quite a few laughs. Depending on how comprehensive the update turns out to be, this could all be over in the future.

Kinetic talks about a “refresh of the character models, improvement of the animations and adaptation of the overall experience regarding the Phasmophobia characters.” However, full character customizability is not planned until 2026.

New and revised maps

In 2025, we will also be releasing a completely new map, This will be a small map and will add a unique environment to Phasmophobia. In the future, we plan to keep future maps small so that we can regularly expand our catalog of maps.

In addition, the classic maps Bleasdale Farmhouse, Grafton Farmhouse and 6 Tanglewood Drive will be reworked. Bleasdale will be the first to be reworked in March.

Seasonal Events

Phasmophobia began introducing seasonal events last year. The feedback for these events will be incorporated into further versions in 2025. While the themes for Halloween and winter will remain the same, the Easter event will be reworked. In October, ghost hunters will once again be able to conjure up the

During the events, personal rewards can be earned and more maps than last year can be made (in)secure.

But of course 2025 should not be the last year full of innovations. Kinetic is still working on the Horror 2.0 update, with which Phasmophobia finally wants to get out of early access. The main aim of this is to iron out all the kinks in the ghost mechanics, i.e. hunts, ghost events and interactions.

The developers have not yet announced exactly when this will happen. But they assure us that they will keep us informed.
