For Farming Simulator 22, the construction mode has been revised and expanded with new features. In the future you will have many more creative possibilities.
At the Farmcon Giants presented the Farming Simulator 22. In addition to the first gameplay, the new construction mode was also shown for the first time. Compared to the predecessors, this is now much more extensive and gives you more creative freedom.
Building mode and landscape design in one tool
In Farming Simulator 19 you had to switch back and forth between the construction mode and the landscaping tool. In LS 22, the annoying switching is no longer necessary. After feedback from the community, the developers have fundamentally revised the tool and, according to their own statements, also improved the user-friendliness.
Production chains were another reason: according to Giants, the new production chains required an expanded construction mode. In short, the entire tool was reworked, the number of items that can be placed was increased and the controls also received a general overhaul.
Modular construction and numerous new placeable items
Some of the new buildings, such as the BGA (biogas plant) or silos can be constructed in a modular way. Another new feature is the construction of fences, which are automatically extended in length after placement and are thus placed much more quickly and visually appealing
The editing of the landscape, the placement of decorative objects and buildings is done from a bird’s eye view. Some objects, including fence gates, have interactive elements. The categories of the new tool were also presented at Farmcon:
– Subcategories in buildings: sheds, silos, silo extensions, containers and tools.
– Subcategories in production: factories, sales points, greenhouses, orchards, generators
– Subcategories in Animals: All stables in different sizes with additional functions
– Subcategories in Decoration: Fences, (street) lights and “Others
– Landscaping: Landscaping tools for modelling, texturing as well as trees and plants
Other features of the tool: In the video, which is over 12 minutes long, the developers present the new tool in detail. If you remove a hall, for example, a less appealing concrete texture remains on the ground. With the landscaping tool, you can recolour the area and then let the grass grow over it.

Halls with a solar roof
The interface itself is reminiscent of building games like Planet Zoo or Planet Coaster. In Landscaping, you edit areas with a brush and can also freely choose the size. The developers also provide an example for use: grapes are grown on vines. The new tool is intended to make it easier for you to build your own vineyard. However, it is not yet known how large the mountains can become. Only the construction of a small hill was shown.
We have included the complete video in which you can see all the changes and innovations in detail:
What do you think of the new tool? Do you think the revision makes sense and what else do you hope for from the new part? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments
