The Outer Worlds 2 has a new trailer and is scheduled to be released next year, and even for the PlayStation 5.

Although The Outer Worlds 2 was announced a few years ago, we didn’t get to see gameplay until today at the Game Awards 2024. What’s more, a release window was announced that is actually within reach and should make PlayStation gamers in particular cheer.

The Outer Worlds 2, like the first part, comes from the role-playing geniuses at Obsidian, who are also responsible for modern classics such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Neverwinter Nights 2 and Fallout 3 Part 2 aka New Vegas.

As the new trailer reveals, the new installment is supposed to contain everything that was already in the first part. So you can expect a wacky sci-fi role-playing game with lots of freedom and humorous dialog, that is strongly based on the formula of Bethesda RPGs.

It was also said that the action aspect of the game has been particularly refined. So you can see fast-paced shootouts, new weapons and new abilities in the video.

It is also explained that the development took three times as long as the first game, but that the game is twice as big as its predecessor. On top of that, The Outer Worlds 2 has noticeably better graphics. That was mentioned specifically, so we will too.

When is The Outer Worlds 2 coming out?

And it’s not just the gunfights that are suddenly moving at a faster pace. The release isn’t far off either. The Outer Worlds 2 is scheduled to come out in 2025 for PC and Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

Yes, you heard that right. Although Obsidian Entertainment was acquired by Microsoft some time ago, The Outer Worlds will be released promptly on Sony’s rival platform. However, we don’t yet know to what extent there will be a time exclusivity, as is the case with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, for example.
