The performance of the PlayStation 5 Pro is said to come close to the Radeon 7700 XT and even beat it in ray tracing
Ina few weeksSony could officially announce the PlayStation 5 Pro. A series of leaks have already revealed that the console’s performance will be boosted considerably, especially in the graphics area.
The well-known leaker Kepler has now categorized the performance of the PS5 Pro on Twitter
In detail:
- The performance of the PS5 Pro is said to be on par with AMD’s Radeon 7700 XT.
- Rasterization performance should be similar to the graphics card.
- Raytracing performance should be even better.
what’s the reasonable expectation?

In ourgraphics card rankingthe RX 7700 XT is listed in the highest mid-range category. AMD places the graphics card against Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
The performance of the graphics card of the regular PlayStation 5 is ranked two whole performance classes below. According to Digital Foundry, it is roughly equivalent to a Radeon RX 6700.
Although the performance of PC graphics cards cannot be directly transferred to consoles, the comparison confirms the performance leap that the PS5 Pro is supposed to make.
Raytracing performance of the PS5 Pro
Anotherleakcould shed light on the improved ray tracing performance of the PlayStation 5 Pro. In July, Kepler published a list of ray tracing features of AMD’s upcoming RDNA4 generation
He stated thatmost, if not all
of these should also benefit the PlayStation 5 Pro.
But beware: Even though Kepler is often right, there is still no official statement from Sony on the performance of the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro.
If Kepler’s classification of the graphic performance is correct, this would confirm previous leaks. Experts from Digital Foundry already stated at the beginning of August that the ray tracing performance of the PS5 Pro is likely to be up to four times better than the performance of the regular PlayStation 5. It remains to be seen how this will play out in the end.
