The Sims 4 goes Free2Play: Free from October

The Sims 4 is one of the best and most popular life simulations in the world and from 18 October it will be free on all platforms – forever.

The Sims 4 is becoming a free-to-play game – EA and developer Maxis have announced in a (official blogpost). Accordingly, the base game of The Sims 4 will be permanently available for free download on PC via Steam and the EA app (Origin) as well as on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One from 18 October 2022  You can read our extensive analysis on the subject here:

In addition to the Free2Play conversion, the team also directly announces that there will be more new packs, sets and DLCs available for download in the future. Buyers who purchased The Sims 4 before 17 October 2022 (at the current price of 20 euros for the standard version) will receive a small bonus as compensation: the Desert Oasis set with new desert-themed in-game furniture pieces.

The gaming experience of EA Play and EA Play Pro members will be enriched by members-only The Sims 4 bundles in The Play List on 18 October. The Sims 4 EA Play Edition includes The Sims 4 Get to Work! expansion pack, while the EA Play Pro Edition includes both The Sims 4 Get to Work! expansion pack and The Sims 4 Toddler Accessories Pack

The manufacturer plans to reveal more about the future of The Sims at the big Behind the Sims Summit, which can be seen on (Youtube) and (Twitch) from 7pm German time from 18 October to coincide with the Free2Play changeover.

With this crucial move, addons and DLC packs will likely become even more prominent in the Sims cosmos.
