“The stuff of nightmares” – The internet is laughing its head off at the horror faces in Oblivion Remastered

Oblivion Remastered brings back the strangest faces in role-playing game history – and thanks to Unreal Engine 5, they could give any horror movie a run for its money.

The faces in Oblivion Remastered are so bizarre that they could give even Daedra nightmares – and that’s exactly what the internet is celebrating right now with a mixture of fascination and horror.

Thanks to the new Unreal Engine 5, the NPCs look more impressive from a technical standpoint, but instead of flawless beauty, you’ll find a whole new level of weird charm: Gigantic, cave-like jaws, strangely lumpy cheeks, and looks that oscillate somewhere between I haven’t slept in three nights and I know what you did last summer

No sooner was the remaster out than social media exploded with screenshots and clips of the weirdest creations. The community is using the character editor to create true abominations – from soup plate faces to elves with chins that could replace glass cutters. But see for yourself:

I really think they did that on purpose. They didn’t have to, and it could have been easily prevented, but they left it in the game. Just like in the original Oblivion. – scalperscammer

I can’t believe the emperor saw that in his dreams… terrifying. – Sea-Creature

Even the competition recognizes the value of this unintentional comedy. For example, Michael Douse from Larian Studios wrote on Twitter: There’s no better marketing campaign than viral, funny faces from a Bethesda game

The response to the remaster has been huge: the game shot to number one on the Steam charts within 40 minutes of its release, despite its hefty price tag.
