For the release of the NextGen update, CD Projekt Red is also releasing “some free DLC” inspired by the Netflix series.

CD Projekt Red takes inspiration from the hit series, for which Netflix incidentally recently revealed the start of the second season. This kiss of the muse brings forth some new DLCs for The Witcher 3.

The new cover of the Complete Edition, as the new version is called in the shop, talks about “additional items”. Weapons, armour, maybe a new set? What kind of content it is exactly, the developer wants to reveal “soon”. We cover what we suspect might be content on the horizon below.

What could it be?

The Netflix series The Witcher brought many a very unique creation to the Witcher universe. Not all of it sent fans into a trance of jubilation; for example, the Nilfgaard armour met with little approval. For the most part, however, fans were satisfied to enthusiastic about how the team around showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich adapted the celebrated novel and game franchise.

Alongside creative juices, a dollar or two is also flowing: Netflix even employs its own weaponsmith to craft special swords, axes and the like for the series. Some of these weapons could find their way into The Witcher 3.

Conceivable would be the special hammer of the dwarf Yarpen Zigrin, which you can watch in the video from the WitcherCon livestream from minute 39:25 onwards.

But a new crossbow for Geralt or Henry Cavill’s fancy armour set are also in the realm of possibility. So it’s conceivable that some special weapons and armour could find their way into The Witcher 3.

This would increase the replay value even beyond the improved visuals (including ray tracing technology). And after all, six years have passed since the initial release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
