Good news for witchers and those who want to become one: The NextGen version of The Witcher 3 was only recently postponed indefinitely, but now has a new release date: Still in the fourth quarter of 2022, the upgrade is to be released, which not only affects PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players – those who hunt monsters on the PC also have reason to rejoice.

Witcher 3: NextGen version still in 2022
What’s New? The NextGen version of The Witcher 3 is now scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2022. Originally, the upgrade, which also gives the PC ray tracing and new DLCs, was planned for Q2 of this year. In April, however, it was postponed indefinitely due to problems at the previous developer Saber Interactive.
With the postponement, CD Projekt Red announced that it would take over the version of The Witcher 3 for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S itself – the project was taken away from Saber Interactive’s Russian location. There is no concrete release date for the seventh anniversary of the role-playing game, but there is the certainty that the good stuff will be re-released before 2023.
Let’s make this 7th anniversary even better, shall we?

What does the NextGen upgrade bring? The re-release of The Witcher 3 is not only exciting for console owners. Because PC players are supposed to get ray tracing and new DLCs with the upgrade – at least that’s what was communicated in the original announcement.
The add-on is based on the Netflix series The Witcher with Henry Cavill – but there are no further details or screenshots yet. In any case, we expect skins, maybe even special weapons and armour.
Free for proven Witcher: Those who already own The Witcher 3 on Playstation 4 and Xbox One can upgrade to the NextGen version at no additional cost. And with this, PC players should not be asked to pay again for the DLCs and ray tracing – but better wait for the official confirmation.
