The much-anticipated military simulation will not be continued until 2027.
When talking about complex and authentic combat simulations, the name Arma is actually guaranteed to come up.
The series from Bohemia Interactive developed out of the legendary Operation Flashpoint in the 2000s and has been thrilling military enthusiasts worldwide with gigantic sandbox worlds, authentic military equipment, and extensive mod support ever since.
Accordingly, expectations for Arma 4, which has been in development at the Czech studio since 2022, are high. Now it’s official: fans will have to be patient for a while longer, as Arma 4 is scheduled for release in 2027.
Fans: “GTA 6 before Arma 4?”
The announcement comes from Bohemia Interactive itself. The studio released the following clip as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration:

In addition to the Arma 4 logo and an extensive island landscape, there is talk of a release for the first time: The new installment will be released in 2027.
The community reacts to the news with a mixture of joy and impatience. On the one hand, it is of course nice to finally see an official sign of life from Arma 4, but there is still a lot of time to go before the launch:
- This is what Old Grumpy Viking writes on X (formerly Twitter): “I had hoped it would come sooner. But oh man, I’m looking forward to 2027!”
- Others take it with gallows humor. HotPocket_V comments on X very dryly: “We are seriously getting GTA 6 before Arma 4.”
The bridge to Arma 4 already exists
The last game to be released was Arma Reforger in May 2022, which is designed as a link between Arma 3 and Arma 4 and is also a kind of extensive tech demo for the new Enfusion engine, which replaces the Real Virtuality engine used in previous years.
Arma Reforger was never able to attract as many players as Arma 3, which still has about three to five times as many users on Steam today. Arma Reforger is therefore less of a sequel and more of a stepping stone for fans to get to know the future tools of Arma 4. At least now we know when it will be ready.
