A nasty mechanized surprise awaits the community on the bot front

Fans of Helldivers 2 thought they knew exactly what was coming in the new update thanks to the patch notes.

However, it quickly became clear that there were other changes in addition to the new max level, improved weapon balance and new weather effects. Menacing changes!

Because sightings of two completely new enemy types on the Automaton front are now spreading like wildfire in the community. And the two new enemies have what it takes

The AT-AT from Helldivers 2

The new Factory Strider is a leggy colossus and is strongly reminiscent of the Empire’s AT-ATs from Star Wars. Factory Striders are quasi mobile outposts of the Automatons and are not only heavily armored, but also armed with laser cannons and miniguns and, to top it all off, produce Devastator

on the go.

According to initial findings, the walkers also appear to have no ventilation slots, which are often a weak point in bots. Fans are shocked by the new threat; on Reddit, one user writes:

“The update notes did not mention this 🙁

Another fan describes the robustness of the new enemies: “They just soak up damage, one cost me an orbital laser, a 500KG bomb and two quasar hits.” Meanwhile, one daring player has already managed to land on a Factory Strider:

New threat from the air

The new Gunship is a new and more compact variant of the already familiar Dropships and targets you directly from the air. They usually appear as a squadron of three ships and are armed with missiles and lasers

Here you can see them in action:

According to initial findings on the battlefield, a gunship can be knocked out with a precise quasar or missile hit in the drive The problem is that new ones follow immediately

Because the gunships also introduced new production facilities in bot bases which always produce new supplies until you wipe them out with a Hellbomb or a heavy air strike.

Up to three ships are produced per gunship camp – so if there are two of these bases on the map, you may have to fend off six gunships at the same time.

Not the first surprise

The new Automatons are not the first surprise from the makers of Helldivers 2. Flying insects were spotted back in March, but their existence was denied with reference to the Ministry of Truth.

In addition, there were hidden attacks by a third, still secret alien faction. What do you think of the developers’ approach to releasing new content unexpectedly? Let us know in the comments
