Besides the Anniversary Edition, Skyrim is now releasing its seventh version. This time it’s an official board game.
Bethesda has done it again – there’s another new version of Skyrim coming our way. And it’s a board game. So far, Skyrim exists in six different variants, not counting the console ports:
- Skyrim Standard Edition
- Skyrim VR
- Skyrim Legendary Edition
- Skyrim Special Edition
- Skyrim Very Special Edition
- Skyrim Anniversary Edition
This makes the official Skyrim board game already the seventh implementation of the cult role-playing game. But what can we expect from it?
This is what’s in the official Skyrim board game
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – The Board Game is first of all a cooperative game. You don’t compete directly against each other. Instead, you go on quests, into dungeons and into battles together. Each round, an event card is drawn that influences the course of the game. In addition, you can level up and learn skills, as well as enchant your equipment, just like in the digital game. Last but not least, you will also “meet” characters and complete side quests. Original Skyrim, then.
For how many players? You can even play the board game alone – or you can join groups of up to 4 players.
When is it coming? There is no release date yet, but on 2 November 2021 a fundraising campaign will start on (gamefound.com). Supporters will get access to a demo in Tabletop Simulator, among other things.
How much does it cost? Donations can be made starting at $95, or about 81 euros, and include a physical copy of the board game.
You can already catch a first glimpse of the look of the board game in this picture:
But before that we will be spoiled with the (Anniversary Edition of Skyrim), which has just announced an aquarium of all things as the first DLC.
What do you think about the board game conversion? Does it make your fingers itch or leave you cold? Let us know in the comments!
