  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch
  • Release: 7 February 2022

*(PC stores: Steam)

Have you always wanted to master really cool tricks on your skateboard, but only got a bloody knee doing it? In OlliOlli World you can now make up for this dream, dare to perform breakneck stunts and crack one high score after the next. And you’ll even meet the gods of skating! However, you have to plug in a controller, mouse and keyboard control is not supported.

The game is the third part of the skateboarding series and once again confronts you with crunchy parkour puzzles. The visuals have been given a makeover and, compared to the predecessors, shine with richer colours and stylish cartoon graphics.

Power to the People

  • Genre: Building Strategy
  • Developer: Hermes Interactive
  • Publisher: Crytivo
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: 8 February 2022

*(PC Stores: Steam)

Energy is what the people need! And you build them the power grid to match. Power to the People puts you in the rubber shoes of an energy supplier in a main campaign or sandbox mode. Your task: manage a successful company and keep the lights on in newly built cities.

To do this, you research better technologies, build new power plants or high-voltage lines and bravely face all challenges: Environmental disasters, football matches, influencer tours in the city and so on. Just make sure the power never goes out, or you’ll scare away your customers faster than you can say “Potzblitz”.

Zorya: The Celestial Sisters

  • Genre: Co-op adventure
  • Developer: MadLife Divertissement
  • Publisher: TLM Partners
  • Platforms: PC, Switch
  • Release: 8 February 2022

*(PC Stores: (Steam), (Epic))

Zorya: The Celestial Sisters seems like the perfect game for a cosy co-op evening, perhaps with younger comrades-in-arms or less game-experienced partners or friends. You control two dissimilar sisters in online or split-screen co-op, the sun goddess Solveig and the night goddess Aysu. The latter can only move in the shadows.

As Solveig, you therefore make your way through the levels, but Aysu can push enemies and obstacles away with gusts of wind. Only when both sisters – and the co-op players – coordinate do they manage to solve the puzzles and return to heaven together. Attention, you need at least one controller to play Zorya! If you want to try out the adventure game first without any obligation, you can find a free demo at Steam as well as at Epic.

The After Sunset

  • Genre: Third-person shooter
  • Developer: Playstark
  • Publisher: PQube
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: February 11, 2022 (Early Access)

*(PC Stores: (Steam))

The After Sunset combines roguelike and brightly coloured shooter: you shoot your way through procedurally generated quests, unlock new weapons and characters and fight against the Murkos, who suddenly become strong as bears in the shadows. So watch out when the sun goes down and the world around you gets unstoppably darker!

During Early Access, the co-op mode will be unlocked, allowing you to fight for your life with friends in the picturesque sunset. A final release date has not yet been announced, but is expected to be in 2023.

Infernax

  • Genre: Jump&Run
  • Developer: Berzerk Studio
  • Publisher: The Arcade Crew
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch
  • Release: 14 February 2022

*(PC Stores: (Steam))

Your deeds will catch up with you in Infernax! In order to have fun with the jump&run, you first have to get used to the pixel-optics and relentless difficulty. In return, it provides you with an open, dark world and a story that you can influence and thus also determine the end of your story.

You are a glorious knight who returns to his homeland and is horrified to discover that it has been overrun by dark forces. Of course, you don’t take this lying down, but shoulder your mace and spend the next few hours beating beasts and evil mages to a pixelated pulp.

Liberte

  • Genre: Roguelike
  • Developer: Superstatic
  • Publisher: Superstatic
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: February 15, 2022 (Early Access)

*(PC Stores: (Steam))

Liberte is what you get when you mix the French Revolution with Lovecraft horror and then give it a good stir with the Roguelike spoon. You choose one of four different fighting styles, from fire-breather to pistolier, and try to take control of Paris, which has been thrown into chaos.

And as if that wasn’t enough, you also tangle with an undead goddess. Liberte also offers a co-op mode if you don’t want to face the demon hordes alone. Initially, the game will be released in Early Access and offers the first part of the main story, the final release is planned for the beginning of 2023.

Spellmaster: The Saga

  • Genre: Role-playing game
  • Developer: Spellbook Creations
  • Publisher: Valkyrie Initiative
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: 16 February 2022

*(PC Stores: Steam)

This role-playing game is explicitly inspired by Gothic, which is quite noticeable in the medieval game world.

However, you have many more magic tricks, you can create your own spells and even build and manage your own mage academy. However, you have to do without a voice output, Spellmaster comes from a very small development team – many comfort features would probably have been too expensive.

Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden

  • Genre: RPG / Card Game
  • Developer: Square Enix
  • Publisher: Square Enix
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, Switch
  • Release: 17 February 2022

*(PC Stores: Steam)

This insider tip is backed by a very well-known studio, Square Enix. However, I’m sure many of you have never heard of Voice of Cards – the RPG card game mix flies pretty much under the radar. The Forsaken Maiden is actually the second part of the series, but you don’t need any previous knowledge to understand the melancholic story. It’s about a remote chain of islands that you want to save from destruction, but the developers don’t reveal any more than that.

Everything here is represented by maps, the game world, your enemies and even the actions of your characters. The concept is hard to describe, but it looks extremely fascinating. Take a look at the trailer

Martha is Dead

  • Genre: Horror-Adventure
  • Developer: Wired Production
  • Publisher: LKA
  • Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
  • Release: 24 February 2022

*(PC Stores: (Steam), (Epic), (GOG))

Italy, 1944: A young woman named Martha is murdered. Her twin sister Giulia searches for the truth about her death, but gets caught in a dark vortex of superstition, madness and the horrors of the Second World War.

You experience the tragic story of Martha is Dead through Giulia’s eyes as she copes with the terrible loss of her sister. On foot or by bike, you explore war-torn Tuscany, collecting clues and snapping photos – with a historically accurate camera, of course. Your journey is accompanied by vintage music from Italy.

Ghost on the Shore

  • Genre: Adventure
  • Developer: Iike Charlie
  • Publisher: Application Systems Heidelberg
  • Platforms: PC, Mac, Linux
  • Release: 24 February 2022

*(PC Stores: (Steam), (GOG))

The young woman Riley has not had a good day: first she gets stranded on a deserted island and then she also meets the ghost of a long dead man who introduces himself as Josh. The two get to know each other better as you explore the ruins of the former inhabitants and maybe even find out how Josh actually died.

Ghost on the Shore promises emotional decisions that influence what happens next with Riley and Josh. At first glance, the game reminds us a bit of Firewatch. Story fans who don’t necessarily need complex gameplay should definitely keep an eye on it.

Hologram

  • Genre: Third-person shooter
  • Developer: Enlighteneer
  • Publisher: Enlighteneer
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: 28 February 2022

*(PC Stores: Steam)

Surprisingly little is known yet about the shooter Hologram, which is to be released at the end of February. In the trailer, however, the game already looks pretty fancy and the description also makes us sit up and take notice: A brute sci-fi scenario in which we storm through hails of bullets and take on nasty machine creatures. Obviously, not everything here is as it seems, illusions are lurking everywhere.

And we’re not only on foot, but also fly to different planets by spaceship.
