On Twitter, shooter expert Kevin stumbles upon a short scene from the sci-fi game Hyperspace and has thought of nothing else since.
As I’m scrolling through my Twitter feed, I stumble across the following scene:
A game character with a jetpack and space gear is hurtling toward a hangar in a third-person perspective. The camera zooms in, suddenly switching to first-person view, a thick sci-fi gun is drawn. Robot guards rush in and are immediately expertly dismembered. Boom!
But see for yourself:
Why can you seamlessly transition from your ship, fly with your jetpack and land on a space station? Because it’s cool! 😀
We aim to make the game as fluent as possible and give freedom to the players to traverse how they like. pic.twitter.com/bfOLO8bM1s

The developer behind the project writes about it, “Why can you seamlessly transition from spaceship to jetpack and land on a space station? Because it’s cool!”
And I second that: The whole thing only lasts eight seconds, but I watch the clip over and over and just think: I need to know more about that right now! And report to you of course, is clear.
What kind of game is this anyway?
The scene is from an early version of the game Hyperspace, though the name is still a placeholder. Here’s what we know so far:
- Coop: A team of up to four players explores space and fights together against the AI, so it is a pure PvE game.
- Crew: Together you man and organize a ship. Space battles, manning guns and managing the power supply is all part of the job.
- Exploration: Your crew can board discovered wrecks, stations, etc., move freely there and find puzzles, crafting components but also enemies.
- Story: By proceeding in a coordinated manner as a team and successfully completing alien locations, you advance the progress of the story, which is the main focus.
Here are already some pictures from the game:
Which developer is behind this?
Hyperspace is being created at Keepsake Games, a five-person studio in Stockholm. At the helm is Daniel Kaplan, a founding member of Minecraft developer Mojang and founder of publisher Coffee Stain (Valheim, Satisfactory, Goat Simulator).
Kaplan is gathering around him a team with experience from well-known projects, including Mirror’s Edge, A Way Out and It Takes Two. But: Hyperspace is currently still in an early phase, even the name is not final yet, a Steam store page should be created soon.
What do you think of the scenes and the co-op concept of this sci-fi game? Will you put the title on your watch list? Feel free to write us your thoughts on this Twitter find in the comments!
