opinion: The extraordinary style of the game has settled like a parasite in Kevin head that he just can”t get rid of.
Some games you just don”t forget. This can be due to the brilliant story, but also to the stupid plot twist at the end. Maybe the soundtrack touches you so much that the music is still buzzing around in your head weeks after finishing the title. The following insider tip has been stuck in my head for two years(!). But that”s not because of the cool story or the harmonious soundtrack, but because of the unusual graphic style.
Chicken Police is something special even at first glance: black and white look, film noir atmosphere and people with animal heads. Let”s be honest: At first glance, this sounds super off-putting and everything but cool. Nevertheless, Chicken Police has its players thrilled almost across the board, after all (96 percent of Steam reviews are positive). Take a look at the trailer and tell me that this game isn”t something special from the visuals alone:
Chicken Police thus balances very dangerously between exciting ideas and twisted humour and the question of whether the concept was really a good idea. You have to decide for yourself what prevails for you. But don”t just let the graphics speak for themselves, but also the story.
What”s it all about?
The film noir genre is quoted a lot throughout the story, almost taken for a ride: It”s constantly raining and the depressed anti-hero Sunny keeps voicing melodramatic thoughts off-screen. The whole thing is accompanied by a harmonious jazz soundtrack, the cherry on the cake, so to speak.
Under this façade, however, Chicken Police tells a thoroughly exciting story about the detailed city, its inhabitants and – of course – a murder. But I don”t want to give too much away, after all, the murder-mystery will only entertain you for a few hours and can be played through in one or two days.
(Chicken Police is a classic point&click adventure game. An interrogation like this one is still one of the game”s highlights.)” src=”https://www.global-esports.news/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Chicken-Police-a-classic.jpg” width=”1920″ height=”1080″ /☻
The gameplay is divided into two major sections: You conduct your investigations in the city in the classic point&click manner – you search for clues in various places, solve small puzzles and talk to the animal inhabitants. The interrogation is a little more varied, where you can elicit some information from the suspects by asking the right questions at the right time. But you can”t really do much wrong, Chicken Police remains a linear story adventure.
If you now say: People with animal heads are totally my thing
, or you just want to solve a thrilling murder case again, you should grab it soon. During the Steam Winter Sale, Chicken Police is still (50 percent off) and thus only costs around ten euros.
Which game has stuck in your skull and just won”t leave? And do you have any suggestions as to which titles also have an unusual graphic style? Feel free to write it down in the comments!
