With the Shadows of Change expansion, three factions are getting new commanders. One of them now also brings some variety
The already huge Total War: Warhammer 3 is growing even more. By spring 2024, a total of three major expansions are scheduled to be released, and the next one awaits us this summer. While details on Shadows of Change have remained under wraps until now, we now at least know the first contents, and they bring some variety for the legendary commanders.
What’s new?
On Twitter, or more recently X
, the developers revealed over the weekend the first legendary commander new to the game with Shadows of Change. He is Yuan Bo from Cathay, also known as the Jade Dragon. This makes him the first DLC commander after Chaos Dwarfs and Champions of Chaos who does not serve the evil Chaos, and brings some variety to the new content.
The Commander is the regent of Central Cathay and is considered a simple bureaucrat who serves as the administrator and executioner of the realm. However, he can also transform into a dragon like his siblings.
In a short story, the developers introduce the new commander in more detail. Mention is also made of the Crow People, eerie hybrid creatures and the Agents of Yuan Bo, which are likely to be added as new units in the expansion.
If you want to read the beautifully illustrated story yourself, you can download it from the official website but you will need to get an account or sign up via other platforms like Steam.
What else does Shadows of Change bring?
More details about the other content of the next expansion have not been made official yet. According to the roadmap, Kislev and Tzeentch will also get a commander alongside Cathay. Furthermore, the accompanying patch 4.0 will bring a free legendary hero, as well as various innovations and improvements.
After that, the expansion Thrones of Decay will continue in winter 2023, bringing content for Nurgle, the Empire and the dwarves. Finally, in spring 2024, another expansion will be released, the contents of which are still completely unknown.
What do you think of the next DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3 so far? Do you think the right races will get new content, or would you have liked something completely different? How do you like the Jade Dragon of Cathay, and which leaders do you expect for Kislev and Tzeentch? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
