Wargaming’s new game combines tactical mech action with battle royale and extraction mechanics – and you can test it right now.

Developer Wargaming used the big stage of the Game Awards to present its new project: Steel Hunters

The free-to-play mech-hero shooter combines Battle Royale and Extraction mechanics à la Escape from Tarkov in a fresh approach – we have all the details on this extraordinary genre mix.

This is what you can expect in Steel Hunters

Wargaming is of course known for games like World of Tanks and World of Warships – and is venturing into a new genre with Steel Hunters.

Steel Hunters mixes classic battle royale elements with extraction mechanics Here you take on the role of so-called Hunters – massive mechs fighting for a rare resource called Starfall in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world. Each Hunter has unique abilities and progression systems.

You’ll compete in PvPvE arenas, complete missions, and collect gear before battling for victory in a final showdown at the extraction point.

Here’s what we know about the gameplay so far:

  • Tactics over reflexes: Instead of quick reactions, the focus is on using the mechs’ abilities tactically. The maps offer strategic options for this, such as flanking maneuvers.
  • Duo symbiosis: The focus is on working together. The right combination of your skills with those of your team mate should decide whether you win or lose.
  • Customization:Your mechs can be extensively customized, both functionally with various upgrades and cosmetically.

According to Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi, Steel Hunters is set to be one of the most exciting and addictive mech experiences ever.

We are known for creating compelling and long-lasting digital hobbies for millions of players around the world.
