Trepang2 is currently fulfilling the wild action dreams of many F.E.A.R. fans. On Steam, it’s already earning a lot of praise right at release.
Is this a new FEAR? No, even if it looks really similar at first glance. You are looking at the new shooter Trepang2. You haven’t missed part 1 – we haven’t found out yet what the 2 is doing in the title. But what we do know already: The game is coming along really well right at Steam release.
Here in the trailer you get an excellent impression of what awaits you in this baller joint:
You play a super soldier with supernatural powers who slashes his way through mercenary troops using either his weapons or his superior skills. For example, you can make yourself invisible for a short time or slow down bullets via bullet time.
What the first players say about Trepang2
The first-person shooter was released on 21 June 2023 for the PC. On Steam and GOG, it also immediately garnered many positive user reviews.
On (Steam) there are around 400 reviews so far, of which an impressive 96 percent are positive Especially many praise the great graphics, the fun special abilities and the gunplay of Trepang2. Many feel reminded of FEAR, Max Payne or Crysis – but when it comes to the story, you should make a few sacrifices in your mind
Many Steam users also like the fact that Trepang2 comes without a Battle Pass and microtransactions. Trevor Reznik writes in his review:
This game hits all the right notes: intense atmosphere and immersion. It puts gunplay above everything else, which is only further emphasised by the best audio design I’ve ever heard. No microtransactions, no Battle Pass, no skins, none of that nonsense. Just good old fun.
Steam user Eikthyrnir keeps it short and recommends Trepang2 with one sentence::
I dropkicked a guy and his head exploded.
On (GOG) Trepang2 is rated 4.2 out of 5 stars, so it’s also very well received. At (Metacritic) the shooter only achieves a 76 in the press reviews – users can only comment and assign ratings as of tonight.
Have you tried Trepang2 for yourself yet? Does the classic shooter excite you or does the action-pack leave you cold?
