As the Ubisoft developers from Mainz report in a new (Blogpost), Update 13 for Anno 1800 is to introduce a number of improvements. And it’s all free for all Anno players! The best, still this year, on the 14th of December update 13 is supposed to be released. We present you the first known details around game improvements and a new “Green Game Jam Mode”. More solid info from (Ubisoft) should then follow on 06 December.

New game mode with limited resources

The biggest and probably best innovation that comes with the update 13 for Anno 1800 is probably the so-called Green Game Jam mode. In it, you travel to another region to develop a city and complete a large environmental project. As the name suggests, it’s less about making the biggest possible profit in the shortest possible time and more about the compatibility of the economy and industry with the environment and the island biome.

New mechanics are designed to make the construction of a city and all necessary industries much more challenging. Monocultures and overfishing, never an issue in the main game, can lead to food supply problems in Green Game Jam mode. Limited and non-regenerative resources such as coal or ores must therefore also be used well and cleverly. What other bug fixes and optimisations we can expect in Anno 1800 Update 13 remains to be seen. The patch notes with details on these should also be provided by the developers in the coming weeks.

New Cosmetic DLC for Schönbauer

But that was not all. Ubisoft Mainz has also planned the release of the purely cosmetic DLC “Colourful Paint” for 14 December. The “Revitalised Cities” package has been available since the end of September and allows you to decorate your city and its pedestrian zones with ornaments and particularly loving architectural design elements. The “Colourful Painting” package is intended to bring more visual variety to your cities – and include new building skins, for example. Perfect for all perfectionists and experienced Anno 1800 beautifiers among you. Because as everyone knows, the more beautiful your city is, the more influence points you will receive and the more tourists will visit your island. There will be more information about this on 2 December. There will also be more information in a live stream on 6 December, in which the makers will present the new Green Game Jam mode, the Cosmetic DLC and “a few other things”. By the way, in one of the last DLCs, “Speicherstadt”, you could expand your Kontor and harbour area and decorate it with many new buildings. A great argument to get the (currently reduced) Season 3 DLC package for Anno 1800
