It is perhaps the hottest Esporttitel up-to-date: VALORANT is to establish Riot Games also in the Shooter range. But what exactly awaits us?
Five-on-five, turn-based shooter game and with individual heroes who have special abilities. These are the rough facts for VALORANT, the new shooter from Riot. It should be released in summer 2020 and in April the beta phase starts.
The reviews are often full of praise. Henry “HenryG” Greer, former CS professional and current cast, spoke of the potential to become one of the great shooter titles. He played an early version of the game in February and sees the best game since CS:GO.
Simple Maps
Similar to Counter-Strike, the maps are equipped with clear paths and “hotspots”. There are not really squiggly corridors or similar. At least that gives a hint to the gameplay known so far.
In the Defusal/Search-and-destroy mode there are just like in CS an A- and B-spot, where the bomb (spike) can be placed. With the various special abilities and equipment elements, some paths can also be excluded or hidden, so that enemies cannot see or suffer damage there.
Economy
There is a character-independent purchase concept, which works similar to Counter-Strike. It can even be bought directly for teammates.
There are the weapon categories Sidearms (pistols), SMGs, Shotguns, Rifles, Sniper and Heavy (heavy machine guns). Shields can also be purchased. The special abilities can also be upgraded in the purchase menu.
Characters and skills
First of all: The special abilities of the characters, except for the core ability, must be acquired at the beginning of a round and do not recharge over the match duration, as is the case in Overwatch, for example.
List of all characters and their abilities in VALORANT
With the special abilities the player gets tactical advantages. For example, there is the Slow Orb by Sage, which slows down opponents and makes their steps louder. Or the Owl Drone by Sova, which allows you to explore the map without danger.
On the other hand, a Sage can also heal or revive.

According to Riot Games, twelve playable characters are planned for the release.
Each character or “agent”, as the characters are also called in VALORANT, has four abilities. One core skill that they can use for free each round, and two more that must be purchased before each round.

If you do not use them in the round, you can take them with you to the next round. As a fourth ability, each agent has an “Ultimate”, this especially strong ability must be charged via kills before you can use it.
Once again, you’ll find a mixture of the well-known Esport titles Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch.
