Will the space role-playing game be released in March 2023? Fans claim to have unearthed a hidden hint of this.

So far, developer Bethesda has answered the question “When will Starfield be released?” with a wink and the year 2023. Of course, we’d all like to know more precisely. You could try to find vague clues in constellations or use a telescope to peek into the devs’ headquarters – but maybe we can save ourselves the trouble, because a few fans with a nose for sleuthing have come up with a wild theory.

Put on a helmet and don’t forget your warm ear muffs, we’re going to take a quick dive together into the wondrous expanses of Reddit.

What Starfield has to do with the first airplane

So the theory goes: Starfield is scheduled for release on March 23, 2023. Okay, so far, so bold – what is the basis for this idea? A look at the history books sheds some light on the subject: this is the date on which the Wright brothers filed the patent for their very first aircraft. This was in 1903, exactly 120 years before the alleged release of Starfield.

Sounds like a pretty contrived idea at first, but don’t scroll on to the chart just yet. Because there is actually a concrete hint of a connection in the official gameplay trailer that the colleagues from (PCGamesN) have discovered. Very briefly, at minute 2:16, a number can be seen on the ship you are supposed to steer: SV 821,393 And exactly this sequence of numbers is on the already mentioned (Patent) of the Wright brothers!

Who were the Wright brothers? Wilbur and Orvile Wright were pioneers of aviation who were fascinated with flying from their childhood. They were convinced that people could take to the skies with the help of machines and invented first gliders and later engine-powered planes.

Of course, it could just be a little Easter Egg that has nothing to do with the release date. It’s also basically questionable whether the new release date was even set when the trailer was made.

But the pieces of the puzzle fit together amazingly well. In the comments, many point out that 3-23-23 (the American spelling of the alleged release date) results in a sequence of numbers that Todd Howard must like quite a bit and is reminiscent of Skyrim’s famous 11-11-11. Starfield was actually supposed to be released on 11-11-22, but was then postponed.

Is the release theory tenable?

The 23 March 2023 date is now circulating through podcasts, Reddit threads and comment columns, but is it even a credible date? In terms of pure symbolism, certainly. However, the postponement would then only give the developers four months more time, which isn’t too much leeway given the sheer size of the Starfield universe.

We would advise you to mark the day in your calendar, but don’t be too disappointed if it takes longer. At least you’ll be able to fly a few paper planes to pay tribute to the Wright Brothers.
