GTA 6 returns to Vice City, but that may have changed since the last game. We tell you more about the setting
Before you roll up the sleeves of your white jacket and get out the neon lights again, let’s first clarify where GTA 6 fits in time. Because another wave of 80s nostalgia won’t overtake you with Rockstar’s latest Grand Theft Auto.
You’ll also need different outfits for the many different locations. We’ll tell you where you can get up to mischief in Vice City and Leonida.
GTA 6: The Setting
Where is GTA 6 set?  You return to Vice City in the fictitious US state of Leonida. The city and state are modeled on Miami and Florida, which are located in the very south of the American east coast.
Of course you need your beach outfit for the Vice City Beach The beaches, modeled on South Beach in Miami, can be seen in several scenes of the trailer

You’ll definitely need the party outfit on Miami’s Ocean Drive. GTA veterans will be familiar with this location from GTA: Vice City. This is where the Ocean View Hotel is located in the game.
In GTA 6, you will probably also leave Vice City and explore more of Leonida. Among other things, swamps modeled on the Everglades can be seen several times in the trailer. Sturdy shoes and perhaps a weapon are recommended here simply because of the alligators.

Another scene shows a seaplane flying over islands connected by roads. In the real world, these are the Florida Keys In the trailer, the New Bahla Honda Bridge can be seen. This could be an indication of the dimensions of the map
In reality, the distance between South Beach and this bridge is a good three hours by car. The GTA 6 map could therefore be quite extensive with the Keys and the Glades. It remains to be seen how long the distances will actually be in the game. But don’t forget your sunscreen on those long journeys

What year is GTA 6 set in?
The first trailer didn’t give away a specific year, but it provides enough clues to make a guess.
GTA 6 will most likely be set in the present or near future . Although the trailer begins with less modern-sounding synthesizer sounds, it quickly becomes clear from the scenes that it is set in the 2020s.
The following details point to this:
- modern vehicles
- modern weapons
- numerous smartphones and the use of social media platforms reminiscent of TikTok and Instagram
