The big release day has finally arrived! Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is now available for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. We now reveal what the international trade press and the community think about the challenging RPG.

Oh oh! What’s going on? After all the hype surrounding Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the release doesn’t seem to be going very smoothly. The Steam community is anything but enthusiastic, so that only 32 percent of the almost 2,000 reviews are positive. The reason for this lies mainly in the technical nature. The PC port of the long-awaited Souls-like seems to deliver poor performance, so that it’s not much fun exploring ancient China.

In contrast, the trade press seems quite pleased with the console editions. On Metacritic, it’s not so much the technical problems that are criticised as the gameplay. Some voices criticise that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty lacks inspiration. After titles like Nioh triggered a great wave of enthusiasm, the new Souls-like game seems to lack innovation and attention to detail.

However, fans of challenging Souls-like combat seem to get their money’s worth with appropriate rewards.

So if you want to plunge into Chinese mythology in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, you can do so now. Xbox Game Pass owners can even do so “for free “
