Pokémon Unite is already enjoying great popularity despite the short time since its release. But which Pokémon should join the battle next?
The Psycho Fairy Pokémon Guardevoir was the last playable addition in Pokémon Unite. In addition to the ranged attacker, Turtok will soon be coming into play to fire its water cannons. Which of the many more Pokémon should definitely be added and how would you play them? These are our speculations.
Despotar (Tyranitar)
If you’re looking for a possible fan favourite, there’s hardly a better choice than Despotar. The second-generation Pokémon remains one of the most popular monsters with many fans and could bring some interesting dimensions to Unite.
The Sandstorm-focused abilities could potentially make it into the game. Despotar would probably deal heavy damage and have low mobility in return. The fact that it is the second evolutionary stage of Larvitar also fits into the level-based evolution system of the game. Despotar could well become the next Pokémon for the late-game.
Sichlor (Scyther)/ Scherox (Scizor)
When it comes to fan favourites, there’s no denying the popularity of Sichlor and Scherox. But even aside from that, the two stages of development could bring some interesting mechanics to the MOBA. Sichlor would be a fast attacker, but one that wouldn’t last much. Scherox would then be a bit slower as an evolution, but would have a stronger defence.
This could change the entire evolution mechanic in Unite and no doubt there would be countless ways to expand it like this. For example, why not just introduce the option for players to decide whether to keep Sichlor or have it evolve already in Scherox, depending on what is needed in the game? A whole new direction of strategies would open up.
Heiteira (Blissey)
Let’s face it, there are hardly any healing options in Pokémon Unite, with the exception of Cottomi. Adding a Pokémon that is completely focused on keeping the team alive would therefore be a novelty. The pink monster also has three evolutionary stages and thus fits into the system of Wonneira to Chaneira to Heiteira.
Heiteira could in principle be a tanky but slow healer that supports other Pokémon. The slow movement speed would mean that Heiteira is hard to play and needs to be positioned correctly to have a big effect in the game on the one hand and to be able to take a few hits on the other.
Kecleon
Every game needs a true stealth character. In Pokémon Unite, Kecleon could fill that well. Thematically, it would fit in well with the previous Pokémon, but also bring a little more third-generation flair to the MOBA alongside Absol and Guardevoir.
Kecleon has the ability to completely merge with its surroundings and would therefore be ideal for ganking. This would make it a good match for DPS partners, albeit with a slightly lower damage output. On the other hand, it should have the ability to stun enemies with its tongue.
