In October 2021, new PC games will once again be included in the subscription offer. We list what you can play and when at no extra charge.

As October approaches, so do a bunch of new games coming to Game Pass for PC. So far, five new titles have been announced to become available to subscribers later this month. For many Global Esport News readers, of course, the highlight should already be Age of Empires 4!

Please note that this is most likely not the entire October line-up yet. Microsoft usually unveils more games bit by bit, which we will then add to our overview. Have fun browsing!

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare

(Genre: Horror / Action , Developer: Remedy Entertainment , Release: 22 May 2012 , In Game Pass from: 28 October 2021)

The spin-off Alan Wake’s American Nightmare throws you into an episode of the mystery TV show Night Springs. Similar to the main game, you’re armed with a torch and a few guns, but this time the focus is more on action than scares. If you’re looking for five hours of thrilling entertainment, then check it out, as it fits in perfectly with Halloween. Or do you prefer the full load? Then the remaster of Alan Wake might be something for you (but it’s not in the Game Pass)

The Forgotten City

(Genre: Open-world adventure , Developer: Modern Storyteller , Release: 28 July 2021 , In Game Pass from: 28 October 2021)

What started out as a popular Skyrim mod has now grown into a game of its own: in Forgotten City, you find yourself in an ancient city, travel through time to solve a murder case and influence the course of history with your decisions.

Nongunz: Doppelganger Edition

(Genre: Platformer , Developer: Brainwash Gang , Release: 7 May 2021 , On Game Pass from: 28 October 2021)

A gritty 2D platformer with roguelike elements where you must survive the mercilessly brutal universe of Nongunz. You unlock lots of guns, run and shoot your way through different levels, string together combos – and do it again and again, because you’ll probably kick the bucket more often. But that’s the best way to master this type of game.

Everspace 2

(Genre: Space Action , Developer: Rockfish Games , Release: 2022 , In Game Pass from: October 21, 2021)

Everspace 2 takes a different approach to its predecessor: instead of a roguelike with a constant die-restart-die cycle, this time things are a bit friendlier thanks to save points. But really only a little, because space is a particularly hostile place in Everspace 2. Outlaws constantly threaten us, our fleet wants to be expanded and we gradually explore new areas that open up to us.

Totally Accurate Battle Simulator

(Genre: Action Simulation , Developer: LandFall Games , Release: April 01, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 5, 2021)

The name Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is spot on: Here you pit two armies of ragdolls against each other. Beforehand, however, you have to put together the right units with the help of a certain amount of money – including warriors, archers, boxers, tanks or special units such as giant mammoths.

Then the armies charge at each other and fight, just like ragdolls do: a bit wobbly and not always physically accurate. The point of it all? To depict battles that would otherwise never happen.

The Procession to Calvary

(Genre: Adventure , Developer: Joe Richardson , Release: April 9, 2020 , In Game Pass from: October 7, 2021)

In The Procession to Calvary you will experience a short adventure game made up of Renaissance paintings, which at times reminds you of Monty Python with its humour. As the nameless heroine, you go on a point-and-click hunt for a tyrant, meet very unusual characters and solve puzzles.

If you don’t like a puzzle, you can optionally take up a sword and fight your way through. However, the bloody path also means consequences that become apparent in the course of the game.

Visage

(Genre: Horror , Developer: SadSquare Studio , Release: 30 October 2020 , In Game Pass from: 7 October 2021)

In keeping with the annual scary month, there is also a horror game in this month’s Xbox Game Pass: Visage. The design is reminiscent of the former playable demo P.T. for the discontinued Silent Hills. In Visage, too, you explore an eerie-looking house from a first-person perspective and are confronted with all kinds of ghostly apparitions.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light

(Genre: Shooter , Developer: Bungie , Release: November 10, 2020 , In Game Pass from: October 12, 2021)

On Xbox consoles, Destiny 2 has been part of Xbox Game Pass for some time. Now PC players will also get access to the latest version of Bungie’s ongoing multiplayer shooter. The package includes the basic game, which exists as a Free-2-Play version anyway, including the content of the expansion Beyond Light, which will be released at the end of 2020.

The expansion takes you to the icy Jupiter moon Europa in a new story campaign, lets you practice a new element class with Stasis, offers a new raid and other content. The currently running Season of the Lost, which continues the story and leads to the new expansion Witch Queen planned for February 2022, is not included.

Ring of Pain

(Genre: Card game , Developer: Twice Different , Release: October 15, 2020 , In Game Pass from: October 14, 2021)

In Ring of Pain you can expect a mix of roguelike and card game, similar to Slay the Spire and other genre representatives. You fight your way through numerous enemies with your pack of cards, make decisions about important loot and progress through the dungeon bit by bit.

Along the way, you will also meet strange companions who will bring you gifts. However, these have a catch that can potentially bring you back to the beginning quickly.

Outriders

(Genre: Shooter , Developer: People Can Fly , Release: April 1, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 19, 2021)

Outriders was already part of the console Game Pass, now the loot shooter also lands in the PC subscription. As a mercenary, you explore the alien planet Enoch, which wants to kill you in all kinds of ways – with hungry giant aliens, hostile mercenaries, mysterious energy storms. Fortunately, depending on the class you choose, you have powerful abilities at your disposal. For example, you can teleport behind your enemies or use turrets to give them a run for their money.

Echo Generation

(Genre: Adventure , Developer: Cococucumber , Release: October 21, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 21, 2021)

Echo Generation wants to mix Halloween atmosphere and 90s nostalgia. Visually, it is reminiscent of a mix of Lego and Stranger Things, but with giant machine creatures as enemies – just take a look at the trailer. Battles are turn-based, and you can also expect a mountain of mini-games and lots of exploration. The fluffy adventure game will also be available in the Game Pass offer right at release.

Moonglow Bay

(Genre: Role-playing game , Developer: Bunnyhug Games , Release: October 26, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 26, 2021)

Many games let us relax while virtual fishing and Moonglow Bay makes just that its core element. In the role-playing game, you move into a fishing village that no longer dares to fish. You set crab traps, cast lines and can cook dishes from your catch at home. In total, more than 100 different species swim through the sea of pixels, including wacky creatures like the chilli fish.

Moonglow Bay was actually supposed to be released on 7 October, but the developers postponed the release for a while because they had to work out some bugs. Nevertheless, the title will also appear in Game Pass directly on release at no extra charge.

Bassmaster Fishing 2022

(Genre: Simulation , Developer: Dovetail Games , Release: October 28, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 28, 2021)

Moonglow Bay is way too laid back for you? When it comes to fishing, you can’t take a joke, you want a hardcore performance? Then Bassmaster Fishing 2022 could be just what you’re looking for. In the simulation, you can fish in numerous competitions, including online multiplayer against other players. There is even a Bassmaster Royale.

Thanks to the fish AI, the animals behave in a very complex way – for example, they cavort in different places at different times of day or prefer to swim in warm waters.

Back 4 Blood (Release: 12 October 2021 – In Game Pass from: 12 October 2021)

(Genre: Co-op Shooter , Developer: Turtle Rock Studios , Release: 12 October 2021 , In Game Pass from: 12 October 2021)

In the multiplayer shooter Back 4 Blood, you go into battle against slavering zombie hordes. You take on one of eight characters with different abilities, then set off in 4-player co-op, smash or shoot the heads off mutated undead and rush from safe room to safe room.

Sound familiar? Back 4 Blood is not the official successor to Left 4 Dead, but it clearly inherits its DNA. What is new, however, are game cards that are supposed to add a different spice to every match.

The Riftbreaker (Release: 14 October 2021 – In Game Pass from: 14 October 2021)

(Genre: Action , Developer: Exor Studios , Release: October 14, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 14, 2021)

Construction strategy meets survival meets hack&slay. The Riftbreaker blithely draws from many genres, picks a few juicy morsels and wants to combine them into a tasty whole. As an elite commander, you’re stuck in the armoured skin of a fat mech, exploring an alien planet from an iso-perspective and knocking enemy aliens into strawberry sauce.

Both your exo-suit and your base can be upgraded to your liking.

The Good Life (Release: 15 October 2021 – In Game Pass from: 15 October 2021)

(Genre: Adventure , Developer: White Owls Inc. , Release: October 15, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 15, 2021)

What do you get when you cross the cute Animal Crossing with Deadly Premonition? The Good Life, a game where you have to solve the mystery of the town of Rainy Woods as a photographer in debt. And you can turn into a dog and pee on posts at the touch of a button. Definitely worth a look for fans of unusual games.

Into the Pit (Release: 19 October 2021 – In Game Pass from: 19 October 2021)

(Genre: Action , Developer: Nullpointer Games , Release: October 19, 2021 , In Game Pass from: October 19, 2021)

You’re a sharpshooter, Harry! Okay, admittedly, apart from “There is magic” Into the Pit doesn’t have too much to do with the Harry Potter world. But if you’ve always been fascinated by the destructive potential of magic, then the game might still be interesting for you. You shoot out one magical attack after the other from a first-person perspective in order to free a village from demons.

Age of Empires 4 (Release: October 28, 2021 – In Game Pass from: October 28, 2021)

(Genre: Strategy , Developer: Relic Entertainment , Release: 28 October 2021 , In Game Pass from: 28 October 2021)

At the end of October, the long-awaited real-time strategy hopeful Age of Empires 4 will be released and will also migrate to the Game Pass for PC directly at the time of release. After the predecessor took a detour into the colonial era, the series returns to the Middle Ages.
