Asus has teased a new gaming handheld. This could have been developed in collaboration with Microsoft.
Asus has shared a new teaser for a gaming handheld. There are several indications that this is a device developed in collaboration with Microsoft – in other words, the potential Xbox handheld.
Why it’s important: The Nintendo Switch 2 is just around the corner and it seems that Microsoft wants to have an answer ready for it. The company has already confirmed that they are working on a handheld and have tested the first prototypes. This new Asus handheld could mark the first step in this direction.
In detail: In the short animated teaser, we see a robot dancing in a chamber that is supposed to provide it with fresh upgrades. Particularly interesting is the computer screen on which these are briefly displayed:
- “Marathon endurance”: a hint at more battery life.
- “Faster speed”: more gaming power
- “More memory”: self-explanatory
- “Fresh look”: a possible redesign of the Asus ROG Ally
When the robot enters the chamber, the entire room shakes and catapults an Asus ROG Ally and an Asus ROG Raikiri Pro, an Xbox-licensed controller, into the chamber. A new gaming handheld emerges, shown only in a dark silhouette.
Xbox’s X-account reacted to the new teaser with the “side-eye meme” – the same reaction as when the new Xbox Series consoles were leaked.
