An annoying feature from Starfield is reminiscent of Oblivion – now there’s an easy way to get rid of it
Starfield impresses with its ambitious universe and plenty of freedom, but one thing bothered many players: the dialog camera. This focuses heavily on the faces of the NPCs during conversations, which brings back memories of Oblivion for some fans of Bethesda games.
For those of you who don’t like this intense eye contact, there is now a solution: the Disable Dialogue Camera mod.
This mod offers you a more pleasant alternative by allowing third or first person conversations without the irritating close-up view. Especially in group conversations, such as the introduction of the various members of the Constellation, the conversations feel much more natural.

How to get rid of the staring NPCs
If you can’t wait to get rid of the NPCs that stare strangely into your soul during conversations – here’s a quick guide on how to install the Disable Dialogue Camera
mod:
- First install the two mods (Starfield Script Extender (SFSE) and Address Library for SFSE Plugins). These tools are the basis for many mods, including
Disable Dialogue Camera
- SFSE: (Download the file) and copy the DLL and the exe from the archive into your Starfield directory (e.g. C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starfield\)
- Adress Library: (Download the zip file here too) and copy the contents into the same Starfield directory.
- Now you can download the (Disable Dialogue Camera-Mod) and install it by unpacking the contents of the archive into your Starfield directory.
- Done! Now you can start your game via the sfse_loader.exe.
Note: For a more convenient installation, you can also use the (Vortex Mod Manager) which downloads the mods for you and automatically unpacks them to the correct location.
Now we need your opinion: How much does the dialog camera affect your gaming experience in Starfield? Does it bother you when the NPCs stare at you during conversations? Or do you perhaps even feel positively reminded of good old Oblivion? Scroll down and let us know in the comments!
