What is Vindictus: Defying Fate?

The action role-playing game focuses on crisp combat and is reminiscent of titles such as Devil May Cry, Darksiders or Bayonetta.

You take on various enemies and giant bosses with medieval weaponry and have to dodge or parry their attacks at the right moment.

In between, you can use light and strong blows with your sword or use one of your active skills. A trailer shows what the fights look like:

The test version only contains a small part of the game currently in development and is primarily intended to introduce you to the combat system. You may also encounter technical teething troubles here

On

Steam

 and the official Discord server

the developers reveal further details about their plans for Vindictus:

World: There will be no open world in the action role-playing game. Instead, you can expect several unique regions in which exciting experiences

await you. The developers have not revealed whether these will be freely explorable areas or more closed levels. Visually, the world and its inhabitants are inspired by Celtic mythology.

Story: The story of Vindictus is not yet present in the test version, but there will be a story campaign in the finished game.

Boss battles: The attacks of boss enemies always follow a certain pattern. You either cannot parry their attacks or cannot dodge them, so you need to react correctly.

Characters: Two different characters can be selected in the test version, but there are significantly more in the finished game. Not only do they look different, but they also each require their own style of play.

Multiplayer: There will also be a multiplayer mode for the release of Vindictus. This is initially only geared towards co-op, there are no plans yet for battles against other players.

When will Vindictus: Defying Fate be released?  In an FAQ, the developers state that they do not yet have a fixed release schedule. There is also no rough release timeframe mentioned.

The currently playable part of Vindictus was developed in just one year. However, as the game is set to become much bigger, you will probably have to wait even longer.
